Trump got 57% of the Electoral College vote. The Popular Vote is essentially a tie. What makes you think that had the race been a popular vote one from the get go, Trump wouldn't have adjusted his campaign strategy and won that, too?

Not much different to the FPTP system we have in the UK though. Parties like the SNP got massively over-represented while UKIP got massively under-represented because of it. No one really complains apart from those who feel they miss out.

I happen to disagree with him on that issue but I believe it's a negotiating tactic that will never be implemented. Time will tell.
