Was posting on misc.fitness.weights as far back as 95
M.F.W. was great, it was the closest thing to Getbig back then. I remember Misc.fitness and Alt.Sport.Weightlifting before there was M.F.W. . People got tired of Duchaine, Bruce Kneller, Pat Arnold, Rob Schuh, etc..... trolling the regular Fitness groups, so MFW was made.
Ron popped in with contest results sometimes. Titus, Frank Sepe, amatuers, and a a good amount of fitness girls were there.
There was also Alt.Amazon.Women.Admirer
s where hard core schmoes like Bill Dobbins, etc..... posted. Also fitness girls would post there offering private sessions, etc..... including one former Ms. Olympia. Nicole Bass (Ms. Big Bass) got into a huge flame war with Schuh, Duchaine, etc..... that I wish I could still find.
Google Groups, Spammers, and old age have killed off the newsgroups mostly. One of the best things was the cross posting aspect of it.
You could cross post to something like Misc.Fitness.Weights, Alt.Amazon.Women.Admirer
s, Alt.Tasteless, Soc.Fat-Acceptance, Soc.Motss (the gay group), and then something like misc.survivalism, and get a heck of an odd and funny flame war going. I wish you could do that on the boards now a days.
2005, came here when I read some guy here had stories on working with Stallone, being a fan of action movies I came over to to read what Onlyme had to say.From memory elite fitness seemed to be the dominant board back before then, was the only one I read anyway.
Elite fitness was big back then. It seemed to die off when it started in with more pay content, and PUA type stuff. Gosh, I'm remembering so many old boards. Goheavy, Anabolex, Meso-rx, etc..... So many over the years.
