Trump faces more indictments, fines and possible jail time as legal troubles mount

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Trump+faces+more+indictments%2C+fines+and+possible+jail+time+as+legal+troubles+mount

As Donald Trump looks to secure the Republican presidential nomination and win a second White House term, he will also have to navigate a legal minefield that could include as many as four criminal indictments and at least two civil cases.

While a losing verdict in the civil cases would mean Trump could be required to pay millions of dollars in damages, being found guilty in the coming criminal ones could result in jail time. That certainly could impact his ability to wage a campaign for president or to serve in that capacity for a second term.

When it doesn't work out the first time.... keep trying and lying.  How desperate can someone be.  Don't worry though... she is going to announce charges next month.   ;D

Maybe he should spend more time working on a believable defense for the charges rather than wasting time trying to attack other people.   :D

Trump’s legal team continues effort to disqualify Georgia DA as possible state indictments loom
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Trump%E2%80%99s+legal+team+continues+effort+to+disqualify+Georgia+DA+as+possible+state+indictments+loom

Former President Donald Trump’s legal team in Georgia is continuing its efforts to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from pursuing her 2020 election interference investigation, as possible indictments in the state loom.

In a new, 650-page filing in the Superior Court of Fulton County, Trump’s lawyers stepped up attacks on Willis, a Democrat. CNN has previously reported that Willis is considering bringing racketeering and conspiracy charges in connection with Trump and his allies’ efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia. The district attorney’s office declined to comment.

In the filing, Trump’s lawyers argue that due to Willis’ “conflict of interest” as a political candidate, she should not be allowed to continue to pursue the case.

“The District Attorney personally retweeted requests for followers and campaign donations which referenced her prosecution of this investigation,” Trump’s attorneys argued in the lengthy petition.

Trump’s Georgia legal team filed a petition last week, asking the court to throw out the evidence collected during investigation, to disqualify Willis and to remove Judge Robert McBurney from presiding over the case.

Earlier this week, the Georgia Supreme Court dismissed a similar bid from Trump.

The Georgia Supreme Court said in a five-page opinion that Trump hadn’t demonstrated the “extraordinary circumstances” that would require their intervention to block state prosecutors from ever using that material in any future criminal or civil proceedings.

Additionally, an Atlanta Judicial Circuit judge has ordered Fulton County Superior Court judges, including McBurney, to recuse themselves from overseeing attempts by Trump to essentially shut down the Fulton County criminal probe.

The circuit judge ordered that the judges in Georgia’s 7th District, which covers northwest Georgia, will now preside over the Trump vs. Willis petition. The order invited the newly appointed judges to arrange a courtroom in Fulton County “if necessary,” so it is still unclear where any future hearings on the case will be held.

Willis has indicated she plans to announce charges in August.

hahahahaha.  Why is this no surprise?  I guess you 'tards better double up on your donations to the orange turd.  Might have to start working two jobs.  Or selling your blood plasma.

His lawyers are now requiring him to pay in advance, like a pre-paid cell phone. Cities should do the same. Trump's history of not paying bills should be enough.  :D ;D :D ;D

Pennsylvania mayor demands Trump pay up for rally after getting stiffed last time

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Pennsylvania+mayor+demands+Trump+pay+up+for+rally+after+getting+stiffed+last+time

Erie, Pa., Mayor Joe Schember is seeking reimbursement from former President Donald Trump's campaign for an upcoming Saturday rally after it stiffed the city five years earlier. Schember told the Erie Times-News that he plans to once again seek reimbursement even though the Trump campaign did not repay more than $35,000 to the city for a rally at Erie Insurance Arena in 2018. Nearly all of the costs were related to overtime pay for city workers assigned to cover the event, including police officers.

"I think we have to try, and I feel like my team feels the same way," Schember told the outlet. "We're going to see whether we can get some payment from them in advance this time. It's important to do this because we're talking about taxpayer money being used to help make his visit more safe."

The city formally requested a reimbursement after the 2018 rally when Trump's campaign had more than $35 million on hand. Erie is one of dozens of cities that have incurred significant costs when hosting Trump rallies that have not been reimbursed even as others received repayments. "Trump has been able to bring in millions of dollars for his campaign," Schember said. "He should be able to easily pay these costs to cities."

Witch hunts.   LOLOLOLOL ;DLOLOLOLO

Those witch hunts sure seem to catch a lot of witches though.

I have NEVER seen anyone work so hard for so long to keep evidence of their loudly-proclaimed innocence from coming to light.   :D
If he is so innocent why is he constantly trying to postpone or delay the trial or get prosecutors tossed?   You would think he would try to get it over with as quick as possible and use his victory as part of his campaign.

Why don't you tell us another tall tale.  Maybe the one about how you were a Hell's Angel again.

I’m a Hell’s Angel

We all know that was a lie.  Because in addition to not being able to afford a motorcycle, your 5'4" ass can't ride one either.  You aren't even big enough to ride bitch in the back either.  You would have to ride in a pet sidecar like a Chihuahua.  Even despite the Leicestershire HA's being nothing more than a bunch of fat ass lay about wannabes, even they wouldn't let you join after you financed a used Vespa.

Ok, we finally got some #winning here.  This counts as winning right?  RIGHT?   Oh wait... no, not #winning for Trumpy.  Ooops.  Sorry about that, getting your hopes up and all.

The Republicans are correct that there were and are widespread efforts to interfere with our elections. What they are not saying is that the evidence shows those acts are being committed by Trumpy and the Republican party.  Can you imagine how miserable the Trumpturds truly are?  They cheated and still lost.  And got caught.   :D

Judge Dismisses Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” Defamation Lawsuit Against CNN

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Judge+Dismisses+Donald+Trump%E2%80%99s+%E2%80%9CBig+Lie%E2%80%9D+Defamation+Lawsuit+Against+CNN
A federal judge dismissed Donald Trump’s $475 million defamation lawsuit against CNN, litigation centered on references made by on-air figures to “the Big Lie,” or the former president’s unfounded claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him.

Trump had argued in his lawsuit, filed in federal court in Florida, that the references to the phrase were defamatory as they created a “false and incendiary association” between him and Adolf Hitler.

U.S. District Judge Raag Singhal wrote that CNN’s references to the term “the Big Lie” were matters of opinion, not fact.

The judge wrote, “Trump complains that CNN described his election challenges as ‘the Big Lie.’ Trump argues that ‘the Big Lie’ is a phrase attributed to Joseph Goebbels and that CNN’s use of the phrase wrongly links Trump with the Hitler regime in the public eye. This is a stacking of inferences that cannot support a finding of falsehood.”

The lawsuit cited five examples of the use of the term “The Big Lie” or election lies that Trump’s attorneys say the network has refused to retract. They including a January 25, 2021, CNN opinion article by Ruth Ben-Ghiat; July 5 and September 15 pieces by Chris Cillizza; a January 16 reference to “the Big Lie” by Jake Tapper on State of the Union; and another Cillizza piece from February 11. But the lawsuit also takes issue with other moments on CNN when guests made the comparison to Trump and Hitler, including one made by Linda Ronstadt during an interview with Anderson Cooper in 2019.

In Singhal’s opinion (read it here, hat tip Politico), he wrote that he found that “Nazi references in the political discourse (made by whichever ‘side’) to be odious and repugnant. But bad rhetoric is not defamation when it does not include false statements of fact. CNN’s use of the phrase “the Big Lie” in connection with Trump’s election challenges does not give rise to a plausible inference that Trump advocates the persecution and genocide of Jews or any other group of people. No reasonable viewer
could (or should) plausibly make that reference.”

Trump had asked the judge to reconsider New York Times vs. Sullivan, the Supreme Court precedent that has guided defamation law for almost 60 years. Singhal, a Trump appointee, said he could not do so because of that precedent and other rulings, but he seemed to express some sympathy with Trump over the state of the news media.

He wrote in his ruling, “The problem is essentially two-fold. First, the complained of statements are
opinion, not factually false statements, and therefore are not actionable. Second, the reasonable viewer, unlike when Sullivan, Butts or Gertz were decided, no longer takes the time to research and verify reporting that often is not, in fact, news.

The judge continued, “As an example, only one month ago, the United States Supreme Court issued a well written 237-page joint opinion with vastly divergent views in two cases known widely as the Affirmative Action decisions. Within minutes of the release of the opinion, the free press had reported just what the opinion supposedly said and meant although it was clearly impossible that the reporter had read the opinion. And of course, those initial news articles were repeatedly shared, commented upon and disseminated over social media and still to this day the reasonable viewer very likely hasn’t read the opinion and never will. This is the news model of today. It is far different than that in Sullivan which altered law that existed for 175 years and has spawned a cottage industry over the last 60. But this too is not actionable.”

"Incandescently stupid": Former DHS official says he had to "dumb" down classified memos for Trump

Miles Taylor, who served as chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security under Donald Trump, shared how he often had to over simplfy national security reports for the former president.

"This fifty-page memo that we would normally give to any other president about what his options are is something Trump literally can't read. The man doesn't read. We've gotta boil this down into a one-pager in his voice," Taylor told podcast host Brett Meiselas on Tuesday. "And so I had to write this incandescently stupid memo called something like, 'Afghanistan, How to Put America First and Win.' And then bullet by bullet, I summed up this highly classified memo into Trump's sort of bombastic language because it was the only way he was gonna understand," Taylor added. "I mean, I literally said in there, 'You know, if we leave Afghanistan too fast, the terrorists will call us losers. But if we wanna be seen as winners, we need to make sure the Afghan forces have the strength to push back against these criminals.' I mean, it was that dumb and that's how you had to talk to him."

A Georgia state judge on Monday rejected former President Donald Trump's bid to halt Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' grand jury investigation into his efforts to challenge the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election.

Fulton County Superior Judge Robert McBurney, who has provided oversight for Willis' probe for more than a year, stated in a lengthy ruling that Trump and his legal team can't do anything to quash the probe since he has not been charged.

"[W]hile being the subject (or even target) of a highly publicized criminal investigation is likely an unwelcome and unpleasant experience, no court ever has held that that status alone provides a basis for the courts to interfere with or halt the investigation," McBurney wrote.

Good times!!!!

"Is Trump tired of losing yet?": Judge torches Trump lawyers over desperate bid to block Ga. charges

As the indictments against Trump mount, one wonders if he loses any of these cases can he be pardoned? Apparently, there are three ways Trump could be pardoned: by a state executive, by the current president or by himself. Imagine if Biden pardoned Trump? Wouldn't that be a hoot!

Trump currently faces actual or potential criminal charges in two states, New York, and Georgia. He has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records under New York law. The only pertinent pardon power related to the NY charges belongs to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, a Democrat, who is unlikely to agree to pardon him.

Trump would have to convince a five-member Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles to get a pardon. Georgia’s Republican Gov. Brian Kemp has the power to appoint members, subject to confirmation by the state Senate. In Georgia, Trump could only apply for a pardon after he is indicted and convicted, and only after five additional years have passed since completion of his sentence. If I were Trump, I would find this a bit worrisome.

"Incandescently stupid": Former DHS official says he had to "dumb" down classified memos for Trump

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=%22Incandescently+stupid%22%3A+Former+DHS+official+says+he+had+to+%22dumb%22+down+classified+memos+for+Trump

It's cool to see what you think had to happen actually happened. There was no way a guy of Trumps intellect was going to comprehend the normal briefings... it's just sad a man of that IQ level convinced enough people he was competent enough to do the job.

Well all he had to do was convince his supporters.  And as I have said many many times, they are dumber than Trumpy.
