People get fired or laid off everyday in the real world. In business you eliminate unnecessary departments or positions in order to stay within a certain budget. It's no different in Government. I said years ago even before Trump was elected in 2016, you have to Government as if it were a business if you wanted it to be successful. I also said in order to that you need business people, not politicians or at least lifelong politicians. They don't know shit. They've never created a job, never had to stay with a budget to grow a bottom line, never signed an employee paycheck, never hired or fired (as a business owner or CEO) in other words, they are all but clueless to the workings of a business.
Some politicians may not have business experience, but this is not true of all politicians or even a majority of them. The average age of newly-elected Congress members is 47, which is well into middle age. It stands to reason they had previous careers. In the 114th Congress, 231 members of the House of Representatives had/have occupations in business or banking. There are 435 voting members in the House. This means more than half of them have business experience.
Thirty-three out of one hundred Senators had/have careers in business and/or banking. Only forty-nine of them had prior experience in politics and/or public service. This is not all or even the majority of politicians as you suggest. Only about half of all Senators fit your description of career politicians with presumably no business experience. Not just CEOs but many if not most employees who work in for-profit businesses play a role in growing the bottom line, working within a budget and hold positions which include job creation, signing paychecks, counseling, reviewing, hiring and firing staff.
BTW, the U.S. government is a publicly created and owned non-profit business and not one that is for profit. Politicians answer to all U.S. citizens, including those who bother to vote. A for-profit business’s primary goal is to generate financial profit. In the U.S. government’s primary responsibilities are to protect and serve the people.
