Dude, you actually think they're making this up?
To what end?
I mean, it's not a stretch to think there's tons of waste, inefficiency and fraud in government spending. That has been known for years (Rand Paul's Festivus list each year, etc).
So, if it's not a stretch to know it exists, it's not a stretch that a team of uber nerds and ridiculoulsy smart people could utilize their minds and advance technology to uncover it.
You mean the Uber nerds and supposedly ridiculously smart people who know nothing nor care about government programs and benefits that U.S. citizens/taxpayers paid for and depend on?
Do you think Musk or Trump give a rip about SSI benefits? Folks who have a ridiculously high net worth will never need SSI to make ends meet when they are too old to work. It isn't on their radar. The current maximum SS monthly benefit for someone at full retirement age is, $4,018. Musk takes in billions of dollars daily.
For example, do you have any idea how difficult it is to currently get an appointment with Social Security due to a shortage of staff in the SS offices? The SS office near me doesn't accept walk-in appointments and when people call for one, which is required, they are put on hold in a cue that can go on for hours before it somehow disconnects? These issues will only get worse with less staff.
DOGE will cut 12% of its staff, shutter local and regional offices, and reduce phone services for beneficiaries. There were IRS employees who were specifically assigned to find taxpayer tax fraud - that is until DOGE (Musk and Trump) decided half of the 90,000 IRS employees will be cut. Good luck to the people expecting a tax return check going forward. On the other hand, anyone expecting to be audited should be happy about the cuts because the chance of an audit happening will be nil.
Folks complain about overreaching big government and paying taxes to support it. These same folks are often the first to complain when they cannot get services because programs and personnel are cut. Maybe it is human nature for people to expect something for nothing. But in reality, it doesn't work that way. Everything comes at a cost.
