Primary Purposes and Goals
Mandate Proof of Citizenship: The Act requires that individuals provide specific documentation—such as a passport, birth certificate, or REAL ID-compliant photo ID that shows citizenship—to register or re-register to vote.
-why is this needed? to stop non-citizens from voting
Enhance Election Security: Supporters, primarily Republicans, argue the measure prevents non-citizens from voting in federal elections, increasing confidence in election integrity.
-- cool, i wonder how big of a problem it is
Standardize Federal Registration: It aims to establish a uniform, national standard for voter registration, rather than relying on the current, more varied state-by-state systems.
- oh to centralize the power
Remove Non-Citizens from Voter Rolls: The Act includes provisions for states to remove potential non-citizens from existing voter registration lists.
-- oh i wonder how big a problem it is.

Any piece of identification would be fine. However, it doesn't appear like it will do anything as there isn't a problem with non-citizens voting. i believe upwards of 35 states have voter id or forms accepted? there is no difference between those states and states that dont/
