I do think the media has a huge bias. That still doesn’t make it a good look for a president to shrink the White House press corps to the outlets he considers friendly.
Obama tried a version of this in 2009 with Fox. The White House tried to keep Fox out. The other networks refused to go along and the administration backed down.
It isn’t exactly the same as what Trump is doing now, but the similarities are there. I think both Obama and Trump are wrong to do it.
White House access isn’t the same thing as free speech. Once you’ve granted that access, though, yanking it because you don’t like the coverage still looks like punishing the press. For me appearance matters because I value free speech so highly.

But there's a difference between unfavorable coverage and outright lies and misinformation.
CNN / MSNBC are poster child for both.
White House access is a privilege and the point needs to be made. I have seen so many videos produced in the last week that show the blatant lies and hypocrisy by these networks. It needs to get out completely so they get ignored by even the sheeple.
Personally, I would have made the point by completely ignoring them for a month, and just letting them stand there.
