I was not referring to the nuclear material.

I was referring about the amassing of missiles and drones, their ability to reach the UK, and what their plans were, according the intelligence he saw.

Trump said Iran could have missiles, that you couldn't demand they do away with their missile program. Too lazy to look it up again, but from recollection it went something like that. If Iran had no missiles it would mean they could and would be overthrown immediately, especially by Israel.

Iran has had advanced missiles for a long time, they haven't used them to attack any country. Sure you could say they would be free to develop nukes under a massive missile umbrella but would they want nukes? It's not an automatic yes in my mind. If one says they are religious fanatics, then how about their religious decree, the Fatwa, against nukes because they are against Islam in their mind? Because they are indiscriminate, because they threaten to cause MAD.

Israel is the country with the Samson option. Some would say an atheist, Godless "option."

I think nukes are Satanic. They should not exist.

Did a quick google and found this:

Quote
I In October 1945, a guilt-ridden Oppenheimer met with President Harry S. Truman and famously confessed, "Mr. President, I have blood on my hands," to which Truman later dismissed him as a "cry-baby scientist"

You're right. I haven’t really dug into Kennedy’s funding. Total contributions are one way to measure influence, but I’m extremely skeptical of foreign lobbyists. They could easily hide donations if they wanted to, or stay mostly on the sidelines and then ramp up quickly if he faces a serious challenger or decides to run nationally.

Well, AIPAC is domestic, and I get why critics say it might not be, but I totally get your point.

I said DAY ONE after Oct 7th that Israel was going to go further than they ever have, and they did.

Didn't expect so many folks to side with Hamas though.

This has nothing to do with the context of Kennedy's comments, which was the discussion.

As far as the so called fatwa is concerned, it's likely flexible political rhetoric.  There nothing written or in text.

And they're reversible anyway.

So, once again, fuck Iran's regime.

Israel had to go further after that. If I try to put myself in Israeli shoes, I can understand the feeling of being under an existential threat and the need to protect their borders. At the same time, as an American, I also see that the Israelis aren’t Arabs and when I look at a map that the land looks like "Arab land" to me. (I'm going to ignore the hypocrisy of what we did to the Indians :) ) But then there were also the Jewish people who went from other Arab countries to Israel who were really from that part of the world to begin with. That makes the whole situation feel incredibly complex to me, because neither side is simply going to disappear. I’m pessimistic that the region will ever have lasting peace, since I don’t see any real solution. That’s partly why I think staying out of it is our best move.

I don’t personally know anyone who sides with Hamas. I do know people who are against Israel, and others who are basically neutral and just want to stay out of it.
