Because the FDA would shut them down and that would be the end of it.

Yea what after 5-8 years of selling like hot Cakes?  And then they just shut down the company and open a new one.  I gotta believe this is exactly what is going on these days, which makes me think all those claims that supplements don't work do t really take into account that some do, at least for a while, because of spiking.

Someone here commented on Gaspari products spiking, which seems to ring a bell from a thread a while back.

Ultimate Orange was Caffeine, Carb powder, and Ma Huang. It might of had Grapefruit extract also, but those were the big 3. The secret I think was that the dosages weren't really all that standardized, it was like you opened a few Diet Fuel bottles, uncapped the the pills, dumped them in the jug, and hoped for the best. Also, the company's dosing parameters had you at between #50-75 Mg of Ephedrine per sitting after conversion. Add to that a gram plus of caffeine, and you can see why folks thought it so strong.

U.O. active ingredients were caffeine and ephedrine... a lot of it.

Usually the spiked supplements are at the expos.  One time at the Olympia, I tried a liquid fat burner sample from this scantily clad lady and I was high and wired up like a kite.  Tried it again a few months later from a Europa Sports weekly shipment and it was more normalized.

The reason they do this is to build hype for their products so they can get more accounts from store owners

I believe the 1990 Controlled Substance Act passed by Senor Bush, eliminated the 'blurry' lines of what's real and fake , plus designer and SARMs are safer from a business/legal aspect to use

I remember the old school bros talking about buying some form of G,,, ''h..  ',,,b. Behind the counter of gnc
What about in the early to mid 90’s, I remember some older kids at the gnc talking about how it made him grow hair on his tongue becuase it was some powerful :-\

There was just a popular pre workout on the market a couple years ago that contained an Amphetamine analogue until it was forced off the market. I think it was called DS Craze... this is why I used caffeine and bronkaid if I want a pre workout... I know exactly what I’m taking. You always have to remember the dietary supplement industry isn’t regulated by the FDA and has no one to check the efficacy of their products

Spiking never stopped, places (HI-Tech, etc.) getting busted all the time for it.
Real Viagra in their sex pills, pro-hormones in their "natty test boosters" and so on.

At some point 30 years ago Hot Stuff had actual steroid ingredients in it, Dianabol I think.  It had such an impact it is still discussed today.  Why aren't supplement companies running this same scam to drive sales?  Adding some active ingredients here and there.  I don't think it's a cost thing, even small amounts would produce more results than the nothing from regular fart powder.  Or are they actually doing this and I just don't know about it?

I can't believe the legality of illegality of this would have anything to do with it when $$ and bodybuilding cross paths.  Look at Piano

They are...

A certain UK company made a fat burner that actually worked...back orders in the thousands...it contained a banned substance, in the time it took the relative agencies to get involved they had sold shit loads.  I think the fine they were landed with equated to about 10% of what they made from the product.

Sad how stims have come to replace a good nights sleep.  I have friends that abused the shit out of ephedrine in the 90's.  Now they have all kinds of health problems.  It does catch up to you eventually.

For an occasional boost, a small cup of black coffee is all I need.

Just because I want to remember it, and some might be interested. Here's the important part of the old recipe for Ultimate Orange -

Ultimate Orange -

Carbohydrates - 16g
Protein - 25g
MaHuang shooting for a standardization of 8% - 415mg (about 33mg of Ephedrine)
Caffeine was around 300mg in the form of Gurana.

Also while the ephedrine and caffeine numbers seem in line with products of the day, it also had dosing guidelines that put your average to large sized bodybuilder around 2 - 2 1/2 that per serving.

Also I used to joke that Ultimate Orange looked liked a few bottles of Diet Fuel dumped into some carb powder with a hope for the best. Well I recently found this, which adds some credence to it -

Journal of Analytical Toxicology, Vol. 28, April 2004

Concentrations of Ephedra Alkaloids and Caffeine in
Commercial Dietary Supplements
.

Edit - Just search the above title in Google and the study will come right up. You can't hot link to it, but the full study usually comes up in the first 1/2 dozen links.

Wow at how off some of it was.

I highly doubt it as there is no conclusive evidence.

I tried a tub of one of the first batches that came out in 1991, it definitely had something in it, my strength shot up, but cosmetically, because of my shit diet back then, had almost no impact visually. The shit was pretty expensive, and all I could afford was one measly tub, so nonetheless, the magic stopped after I finished it. Ultimate Orange just had a shit load of guarana and ephedra. Since i was already taking the stack of ephedrine HCL, caffeine and aspirine, the UO had barely any buzz on me, and for the price, Dymetadryne 25 had more bang for the buck and at least you knew the exact dosage of what you'd take; the only bummer was the amount of pills to be taken prior to a workout, but damn it gave a good buzz...

Never got to use to try Hot Stuff or Ultimate Orange but did try the pro hormones when they were legal and first came out. They definitely worked. Did the ones that converted to D-Bol and Deca supposedly got good results could see the difference. Did them with Creatine was a nice stack.
