no idea but that doesnt cost you anything...

Free money?

But it can reduce the costs of raising a child. Some countries are much more generous than others.

From what I've heard, the UK is much more generous than the US.

I hear stories about women with multiple kids not working and living off welfare.

e.g

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2931225/Mother-eight-lives-2-000-month-benefits-complains-forced-work-plans-cap-welfare-handouts.html

Society is getting cucked by these women, forcing tax payers (the majority tax payers are men) to pay for children by other men.

In Australia, women get $5000 when they pump out a child (called the "baby bonus").

Than they get "family tax benefit A and/or B" until the child is 18.

I'm guessing in the USA they don't have all this cucking bullshit, or it is much less, therefore children cost "more" to raise.

I won't dispute the amount posted , but I will add my opinion on the "cost of raising kids".

Some of you may remember the epic TV show from 40+ years ago called; " The Waltons"
It's a loosely true story of Earl Hamner aka John Boy and his family raised during the 1930's era depression on Walton's Mt in rural Va.

They were poor, but grew up within a wonderful family and developed good values and a solid work ethic.
How you grew up and what kind of values and work ethic your parents had is the key .

Some people have kids as investments to take care of them when they are old I think its a bad idea who knows what that kid is going to become and sometimes they end up with their own family and bills so aint no money left over for you.

For all of you getbiggers who is thinking of having a kid this is what it will cost you, according to the dept of agriculture a kid born in 2015 will cost you $233,610 from birth until the age of 17 and that does not include college, that is a new ferrari or a boat all you guys who want kids good luck with that.

Some people would find your examples incomparable.

Good point!
I know plenty of other people that had kids and assume they will take care of them in their old age.

If they raised the kids with good ethics and values, they will. But it's not as common as most assume.
For example, my wife's dad is 89 , has dementia and lives in asst.living with 24/7 care.
He's 30 miles from our home, but she is very diligent on his care along with her 2 sisters .

They were told by a couple nurses that they were very different.
Most children drop off their elderly parent and rarely come to visit or check on them.
Sad but true reality in the modern world.

Most tards walking around shouldn't reproduce.
But for normal, working folks with good paying careers, not really that hard.

It is a bad idea to expect your kids to take care of you when you're old, I agree. This is a high risk investment. I don't need my kids financial help, but if I did I'd get it. They are as well or better off than I am.

Most parents I know tend to inflate the cost of the kid by virtue of overspending on things.  Have to buy all equipment new.  Have to buy the best tyres for the car because there is a 0.00000001% chance they might be in an accident and that tread makes all the difference.  Shit like that.

The other good one is education, where they absolutely have to send the kid to private schooling.

Don't get me wrong, I agree education is important - but I wouldn't cop for them to go to a private school.  I would cop for private tuition on top of their public schooling.  I remember that being extremely effective with me.

Using your logic, what is effective for you is effective for all others. Life doesn't work like that.

Since most people I know don't keep a record of every penny they spend on their kids, I'm not clear how the aforementioned child raising figures were concluded. My suspicion is that they are a generalization reached by calculating the average various expenses of child rearing. Whether extraneous costs were included in the final figure, is unknown. May I suggest that more affluent parents most likely spend more on their children than the less affluent parents.

If the parents have four children to raise, based on the amount given for one child, they will spend close to $1,000,000 on their children, not accounting for inflation. This might help explain why the birth rate is dropping.

Private school isn't always expensive. Kids in parochial schools are sometimes awarded scholarships which cover all or part of the tuition. Folks who think they are buying more expensive tires for the safety of their children are most likely lying to themselves and others.

Well to be fair, I only said that is what I would do.  I didn't say that it was effective for all others.  Management of that situation would be a hell of a lot more hands on than sending a kid to private school.

Sorry. I was applying your opening sentence. It still doesn't speak to "all" people. I got that wrong.

Indeed, the cost of having kids is astronomical on your health and pocket book.  It seems that the people who should be reproducing the least in this world are reproducing the most.
Completely true. I see people like myself weighing up the pros and cons of having a child now and I'm financially comfortable, whereas some unemployed druggy lads I know have 4+ children. They don't have to pay for them though, huge child benefit and all the trimmings for doleheads in this country. Same with nigglers here, government give them a life of luxury in benefits once they have children. What will happen is the nigglers and doleheads will out breed the decent people. And their children will be no better.
