Well, he was caught so I doubt he'd be consulting folks on stealing luggage of if he was, they would not subscribe to it. He did manage to get by with no jail time, but he had to plead guilty and agree to go to therapy. Speaking of therapy, he is also a victim of conversion therapy which could be the source of his mental health problems. Obviously, the conversion did not stick.

It is difficult to know who to believe since both he and his parents have reason to lie about this. Perhaps more telling is that Sam was "first championed — and then heavily questioned — by the trans community over harrowing tales of their childhood." So, apparently even the folks who would be inclined to back him up on his claims are not convinced it happened.
