I agree that many of Trump's comments, both in person, to the media, and on Truth Social are laughable. It also depends on how you define someone's sense of humor. Many folks agree that Trump is well-known for a specific style of humor that is central to his political persona, often described as sarcastic, combative, and observational, featuring improvised insults and nicknames for opponents.

I gave you a real example from someone who had dinner with him, who is not a Trump fan.

You responded with random words that go against it.

I could provide 50 more examples easily, but it seems it doesn't matter.

Look, there are plenty of legitimate criticisms that can be thrown Trump's way.  So you shouldn't have to make stuff up to do it.  This is why I find myself defending him so much more than I thought - because of all the fake stuff that gets mixed in.

What in my post about Trump's sense of humor do you believe I made up? Do you think I included fake stuff, and if you do, what was fake? Where was the criticism? The style of humor I wrote about which included words such as sarcastic, combative, observational, and improvised insults or nicknames is generally considered a form of humor which is “laughable” and is why many comedians include it in their routines and their audiences mostly appreciate it.

Your comments lack context.  Like nearly all leftists, you mention Trump's improvised insults and nicknames and fail to mention what he is actually responding to.  Like people condemning Trump for calling Jasmine Crocket low IQ without mentioning how she first called him a piece of sh##.  Trump is a counterpuncher.

You originally stated he lacked a sense of humor.

Then you posted the above, which, based on your original comment, and the fact that it goes against the example I posted, leads me to believe you googled that.  And the description of it sound like talking points a lefty would make if forced to describe it.

Either way, there's countless stories of folks mentioning his sense of humor - it being genuine, self effacing, etc.  If you don't believe it, fine.  I provided Maher's because he's a lifelong Trump detractor.

As I said previously, I do not find Trump's style of humor funny. But then, I also did not like Joan Rivers' or Don Rickel's mean-spirited of humor. Sorry, I am not up on the more current comedians who focus on sarcasm and demeaning to others. Self-deprecating humor is okay with me because it does not insult anyone but the speaker/comedian.

You say folks mention Trump being self-effacing, which by definition means he is not calling attention to himself, is modest, and retiring. Do you have any examples of Trump acting this way? Many folks believe he is an egomaniac, which seems to me, is the opposite of self-effacing.

Here are specific, documented examples of named individuals (primarily journalists and commentators) who have publicly claimed or described Donald Trump as using self-effacing/self-deprecating humor (the two terms are used interchangeably in discussions of this topic). These come from mainstream news articles and opinion pieces where the person explicitly labels Trump's jokes or style that way.

Veronica Stracqualursi (CNN reporter): In a March 4, 2018, CNN article titled “Trump tries self-deprecating humor at Gridiron dinner,” she reported that Trump “poked fun at himself” during his speech at the annual Gridiron Club dinner (a white-tie event for journalists and politicians). She highlighted his opening line: “My staff was concerned that I couldn’t do self-deprecating humor, and I told them not to worry, nobody does self deprecating humor better than me.” She framed multiple jokes in the speech (e.g., about White House turnover possibly including Melania Trump) as examples of him using this style.
Dean Obeidallah (CNN opinion writer, comedian, and SiriusXM radio host): In a March 4, 2018, CNN opinion piece titled “Gridiron shows what Trump is really good at,” Obeidallah (an outspoken Trump critic) wrote: “To be fair, Trump did tell at least one self-deprecating joke last night.” He specifically referenced the same Gridiron dinner line about his staff worrying he couldn’t do self-deprecating humor, acknowledging it as an instance of Trump employing the style even while critiquing his overall comedic approach.

Joanna Weiss (Politico Magazine writer): In a November 9, 2019, Politico Magazine article titled “Trump Pokes Fun at Himself. Why Do Only Some People See It?,” Weiss argued that Trump regularly uses a “self-aware sense of humor” that includes “genuine, self-aware, sometimes even self-deprecating jokes.” She cited multiple examples, such as Trump joking about his own rambling (“I do my best work off script … I also do my worst work off script”), photoshopping a Trump hotel onto Greenland with the caption “I promise not to do this to Greenland!,” and a veterans’ event quip about trying to award himself the Medal of Honor (“I wanted one, but they told me I don’t qualify”). She portrayed this as a strategic tool that his supporters recognize but others miss.

These are among the clearest named examples from public reporting. Other outlets (e.g., The Guardian, NBC News, or USA Today) have used similar language in headlines or descriptions of the same Gridiron dinner or the 2018 bald-spot joke, but without always naming individual bylines.
