Trump supporters pelted by eggs, punches can sue San Jose cops after attack, court says

Supporters of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump who were met with flying eggs and punches from counter protesters during a June 2016 San Jose campaign rally can sue the city’s police for allegedly failing to protect them, a new court ruling said.

Trump supporters – many sporting red Make America Great Again hats – who were attending a rally at the McEnery Convention Center were met with hundreds of anti-Trump protesters as they were shepherded out of the building via a single exit.

The suit's 20 plaintiffs claim in a lawsuit that police knowingly ordered them to leave through an exit where protesters were waiting, despite the existence of a safer route and other exits, the San Francisco Chronicle reported last week.

The plaintiff's said they were beaten or struck by objects thrown by the protesters.
Initial accounts of the events also said at least one woman was pelted by an egg after a crowd of demonstrators surrounded her, as seen in video of the incident.

One plaintiff claims an officer told her police had been instructed not to intervene in the melee.

The lawsuit says police arrested three people for allegedly assaulting officers at the scene, but no one for attacking Trump supporters, the Chronicle reported.

On Friday, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said, if the allegations are true, “the officers acted with deliberate indifference to a known and obvious danger” and violated the constitutional rights of Trump supporters.

Violent threats from the left aimed at Republicans are growing -- When will Democrats condemn them?
Karol Markowicz By Karol Markowicz   | New York Post

Man is arrested after allegedly threatening to murder Rep. Diane Black; Rep. Black discusses serious threats on 'The Story with Martha MacCallum.'

Last week, a man was indicted for threatening to kill Republican Rep. Diane Black. “They were serious enough threats that the grand jury did take action,” Black said in an interview with Fox News.

It’s been barely a year since the shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise during congressional baseball practice, and the story of the threats to Rep. Diane Black were barely a blip in our news.

The shooting last June should have been a wake-up call for our political discourse, but we’ve only been on a further slide since then.

This month, Black’s fellow GOP congressman, Jason Lewis, says his daughters were threatened. A man threatened to chop up Sen. Rand Paul’s family with an ax.

The shooting of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise during congressional baseball practice last June should have been a wake-up call for our political discourse, but we’ve only been on a further slide since then.
Another was arrested outside the campaign office of Rep. Lee Zeldin for threatening to kill Trump supporters. And the Nebraska GOP office had bricks thrown through its windows and graffiti painted on its wall.

Last week, a guy was beaten up in Oakland after a crowd thought he was a member of the Proud Boys, a right-wing pro-Trump men’s-rights group.

In September I wrote about the perils of Nazi-punching, and how the online glee about a white supremacist being punched was misplaced and dangerous. One of my concerns was that the violence being cheered wouldn’t end with Nazis. It didn’t.

A telling incident took place this month when a group of Proud Boys wearing MAGA hats got into a fight at an LA bar. This LA Times quote from Josh Androsky, who led the fight against the Boys, is a stunner: “The Proud Boys say they’re not Nazis, and duh, they’re not from 1945, they’re not 100 years old. But in America, there’s a fun little thing, which is a catch-all term for right-wing racist hate groups, and it’s Nazi.”

He added: “The First Amendment protects the right to peaceably assemble. There’s no such thing as a peaceable assembly of Nazis. Just by virtue of their ideology, they are causing harm.”

Absurd. Even actual 100-year-old Nazis are protected by the First Amendment. Where are the prominent liberals to tell their supporters that, no, they can’t actually punch anyone they disagree with?

Before the election, there was a lot of concern that Donald Trump would lose and his supporters would take to the streets. Quartz magazine quoted Trump supporters who threatened “revolution” if he lost. An LA Times op-ed by Doyle McManus found Trump fans saying there’d be a “civil war.”

Since the election, there have been similar pieces about what Trump supporters would do if he were to get impeached or if he lost in 2020.

But there’s been very little exploration into the continuing violent outbursts by people unhappy that Donald Trump is president. The inevitable march from confronting Cabinet members in restaurants to confronting ordinary supporters of the president continues apace.

Where is the Democratic leadership? What would their response be if the party ID were reversed? And why isn’t the media hounding them for answers?

Even during the election, Republican leadership spoke out against Trump encouraging violence at his rallies. In March 2016 both Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio issued statements. Cruz was still in the race, so his shot could be seen as a political move on a competitor, but Rubio was out and pledging to support any eventual GOP nominee. Rep. Paul Ryan and Sen. Mitch McConnell both also made comments about the violence with McConnell noting that he had spoken to Trump about it.

It’s Dems’ turn.

In June, Maxine Waters famously said “If you see anybody from [the Trump] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station — you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. Tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere!” Her comments were greeted with appropriate outrage.

People — yes, even those who work in the Trump White House — should be allowed to pump gas or shop without having a crowd “push back on them.”

Michael Moore: ‘F—k Hope, Seriously, F---k Hope;’ Trump Will Be ‘Last President of the U.S.’

“F—k hope,” because it’s “the lazy way out,” liberal activist filmmaker Michael Moore says in an interview promoting his new anti-Trump film, “Fahrenheit 11/9,” which opens in theaters on September 21.

Legal means and exposing scandals can’t “save the country,” Moore told The Huffington Post in his vulgar attack on “hope”:

“F--k hope. Seriously, f--k hope. F--k despair, too. But f--k hope.

“Hope is passive. Hope gives you permission to let someone else do the work. Hope leads people to believe that tax returns, or a pee tape, or the FBI or an adult film star will save the country. Hope, and the passivity that comes with it, is what helped get us here to begin with. It’s the lazy way out.

“We don’t need hope. We need action.”

“There is a real insurgency taking place” – and it’s coming from an extremely surprising source, Moore said:

"The revolution is happening in the most unlikely of places. The resistance ― the true resistance ― is not coming from the Democratic Party or from the liberal establishment. I can’t reveal too much right now, but there is a real insurgency taking place."

“Ladies and gentlemen: the last president of the United States,” the trailer for Moore’s film declares while showing a clip of President Donald Trump.

I had no idea the fat fuck was still making movies.

If I remember correctly though, when Obama became president, Moore talked about how it gave them hope. Never trust an obese person.

New Hampshire authorities are investigating a case of criminal mischief at the state library, where a granite block noting President Trump’s 2016 primary win was destroyed early Friday.

According to a statement from New Hampshire State Police, a trooper responded at 7:45 a.m. to a report of the vandalism at the library, located near the State House in Concord.

He saw a line of granite blocks along a sidewalk adjacent to Park Street in front of the library. The blocks were squares measuring about a foot across, police said.

She ran on responsible gun regulation, now she's accused of killing her campaign treasurer
WSBTV ^
Posted on 8/12/2018, 6:52:15 AM by TigerClaws

ATLANTA - A former Georgia Congressional candidate has been charged with murder after her former campaign treasurer was found dead inside her apartment.

Kellie Collins, of Thomason, turned herself into the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office just as authorities in Aiken County, South Carolina found the body of Curtis Cain, Collins’ former campaign treasurer.

Investigators said Cain did not show up for work on Tuesday, so deputies went to his home to check on him. That’s when they found him dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The coroner said the body had been there for at least four days.

Authorities said Cain’s Subaru Legacy was also missing.

Collins has been charged with grand larceny in addition to murder.

In 2017, Collins ran as a Democrat against incumbent Rep. Jody Hice, a Republican, for Georgia’s 10th District. She ultimately dropped out of the race, citing personal reasons.

During the race, she touted her support for responsible gun regulation to protect the community.

Jeff Sessions photo leads Texas restaurant to shut down social media accounts
Katherine Lam By Katherine Lam   | Fox News

A Texas restaurant was forced to shut down its social media accounts on Saturday after it received backlash for posting a photo of Jeff Sessions during the attorney general’s visit to the Houston chain.

The fury against El Tiempo Cantina began when the restaurant posted a picture Friday of owner Rolando Laurenzo’s son and Sessions. Laurenzo wrote in the caption that it was an “honor” to serve the attorney general, who was in Houston to meet with law enforcement officers on crime and illegal immigration.

Fans quickly condemned the post and lambasted the restaurant for serving Sessions. Some people urged customers to boycott the restaurant while others sent death threats to Laurenzo and the staff.

"I felt like it was a slap to the community that supports the restaurant and that backs up the restaurant and that works for the restaurant," Houston resident Gilma Aguirre told ABC13.

The post was taken down and Laurenzo wrote an apology, saying the picture “does not represent us supporting [Sessions’] position,” Houston CultureMap reported.

“El Tiempo does not in anyway support the practice of separating children from parents or any other practices of the government relative to immigration. The posting of a photograph of the Attorney General at one of our restaurants does not represent us supporting his positions,” Laurenzo wrote in a Facebook post before the restaurant's account was deactivated.

Laurenzo said the restaurant did not know it would be serving Sessions and the staff was focused on “serving great food and giving great customer service.”

“The man came to dinner and he was served without us even thinking about the political situations,” Laurenzo wrote. “It was posted without review or approval by ownership and this has led to everyone jumping to conclusions that somehow we are involved in this political matter. We don’t approve of anyone separating parents and children.”

Despite the explanation, the restaurant appeared to deactivate all its social media pages as of Saturday due to the backlash.

Laurenzo told KHOU11 that it was a “mistake” for the restaurant to post the photo.

“In retrospect, it was a mistake because it angered so many people," Laurenzo said. "We have gotten so many complaints and comments. And threats, death threats. This has been extremely shocking to our family.”

He also told ABC13 he decided to delete the social media accounts because people were insulting the restaurant and his family in “dramatic fashion.”

"People are insulting us in such a dramatic fashion, and we feel like we don't deserve it," the restaurant owner said. "At least temporarily I had it taken down because I don't want to be insulted, my children to be insulted, my family to be insulted."

Justice Brett Kavanaugh gets sworn in this fall and cements a 5-4 constitutionalist slant to the Supreme Court for at least the next decade, likely more(Brother Clarence Thomas please lay off the fried foods and stay on that treadmill)

Eventually cases like this get kicked up to those judges and the Left is not going to like the verdicts that get passed down.

Plenty of gnashing of teeth indeed. Possibly violence in the streets. Get your popcorn ready.
