When Takeo Morita worried that "tainted" power would affect the quality of his tunes, he installed a roughly $10,000 utility pole with his own transformer to get more electricity straight from the grid. It's not completely unreasonable to worry about electricity. Sufficiently terrible electromagnetic interference could produce audible glitches.

I am cheap with everything except audio and video once you experience real quality sound there is no going back, I spent thousands of dollars over the years setting up  high quality sound   in my basement, I have a 7.2 surround system, the latest addition was dolby atmos audio which I added last year, listening to music and watching movies on it is out of this world.

Nothing wrong with that, but if you pay $3,500 for a digital link which is a stream of ones and zeros, you're an idiot. Either the cable works, or it doesn't. If a zero changes to one accidentally or vice versa, it will generate a horrible sounding spike in the audio in many cases that would make you cringe. Fine tuning a digital connection is pointless.

I used dirt cheap $.50 av cables, $50 av cables and $100 av cables.....identical audio and video results with components.

Now quality of av components.....that's  different.

My $4 iLuv earbuds sound wayyyyyyy better than my Bose and Beats by Dre earbuds as well as my BBD over ear headphones. Almost a good a my Pioneer dj headphones... Almost.

Well yea of course... I waa just saying my $4 iLuv earbuds i got on amazon (which are pink n white, other colors were like $6) sounded better than my $100+ Bose and Beats by Dre earbuds. And of course my pioneer studio headphones are better than them all (got'em on sale from pssl for under 300).

... No way would i drop $3500 on a usb cable to hookup a phone/ipod to a mixer.

The factory cable on my sennheiser hd800 broken not that long ago.

Over $200 US to replace.  I found that pretty outrageous.

(I didn't - I repaired it.. for now).

Not sound wise, of course.  Just wayyy smaller.  The factory hd800 is quite long and that turns out to be very useful for me.

and after a week you have got used to it and it becomes the norm....

Yeah, but like a sea view, the moment you stop and take stock of what you have (ie, stop and actually just listen to music and do that), you're right back where you were when you first got it.
