Probably the best to never win a pro card. Rory and Mendenhall. Pete Grymkowski third.
Somehow this post became gay. Bumping it because Rory is a legend who is as die hard a bodybuilder as they come. 61 years old and looks like a beast still. Training 20-30 sets per bodypart twice a week...still. Takes 3 months off per year from training to recover. Interesting shit to be read under each of his instagram photos.
3 months off gear, or 3 months out the gym?
Did you train at Astro Gym in San Gabriel during that time?
In Fullerton (I think it was) and I believe it was called Flex-it Gym or something like that. Used to be an old World Gym if I remember..
I used to train with him in the 80s, I loved to plait his hair after we trained, he liked me making little sideways pony tails as well, he always looked cute, one time 8 powerlifters challenged us to a lifting contest, Rory was struggling with his lifts but i managed to lift enough for us both, afterwards it kicked off on the parking lot because they were sore losers, I beat them all up by flicking them with Rorys sweat laden towel.
Was it Block's Gym in Placentia?
lets be honest here rory looks great he is 62, he looks way better than that clown rich gaspari, and the chocolate covered turd flex wheeler. he has aged well.
Rory is one of those bodybuilders that looked like a world beater, but never broke thru in big contests.I've seen others look rather "meh" in the gym only to look incredible on stage, under the lights.Rory had a near perfect structure and overall flow to his physique.Under the lights he never really "popped" or provided the wow factor.A winning look on stage, is not the same as being impressive walking around the gym.BSA , Big Sean Allen is a great example of this phenomenon.Walking around the nationals, BSA looked like a sure winner. On stage , he never looked as good.
Rory was damn good, but Paris in his prime looked like a computer assembled his physique .100% serious, Paris was that balanced and perfectly shaped with enough size.
Grymko was a pro.
With or without the Feargene activated?
Amazing physique....I have a big problem with the 23" arm and calf claims for that show, maybe off season, not a chance on stage..
Rory was small and flat in those pics from the 81' America. He was being trained by Jeff Feliciano who convinced him to drop down below 200 (I think he was around 190) and not train for two weeks prior to the show. He looked like walking death when he would come in.
