I'm absolutely not denying his accomplishments but most have to write an essay on why the should be accepted. UCLA I'm sure has a ton kids with similar accomplishments, but unless you're a minority or have a good hardship letter, it's damn near impossible.

Sure, there are probably applicants who have some accomplishments like this young man, but its far fewer than you think. This kid is obviously in the VERY small percentage of 18 year olds. It's obvious that he STANDS out and he would have been accepted to most universities with or without an essay.

Just like the 18 year olds essay about "black lives matter" coincided with his past experiences. They look at the applicant in a holistic manner.
