Got to 255 for a while. Didnt really mind the love handles, arms were big as fuck (for me).

Then I started boxing 6 months ago and i had trouble moving around so i'm now 230 for this purpose. I'd like to get to 200 ripped but the willpower to diet intensly ain't there anymore.
Boxing is fucking awesome, wish i had done that as a kid instead of bodybuilding. I stillnsuck at it tho... shit is fucking hard

All natural lifters should bulk when they first start to get their noob gains as quickly as possible.  Then diet down to 10-15% and never bulk again.

You can gain the same amount of muscle from eating 500 cals over your maintenance as you can eating 2000 over.

From 2001 - 2008, I went from 180 (ish) to 270 @ 5'11", this was while I was still natural - epic amount of self denial. I kept putting weight on the bar, buying larger clothes and hearing laypeople tell me I was a beast, I guess I was - a fat , strong beast. Ironically, the largest I ever was on juice was 240 (ish) , now a days I stay around 200 (blast and cruise) and look pretty good if I say so myself. Thank Zues for superior skin elasticity, I have no stretch marks.

I was one of "those" guys, considering myself a "powerlifter" even though I didn't compete, adding olive oil and bananas to my incessant protein shakes, eating daily at chinese buffets etc. etc.
The embarrassing (in hind sight) stories I could tell..........

Bulked up once to around 260lbs at 6'2ft. Looked "huge" but waist was nearly 40 inches. Ended up going on an intense diet/cardio routine and shrunk to under 180lbs. Very lean but looked like I had the AIDS.
I guessed that it was best to go halfway. Currently around 220lbs. Pretty fat but feel strong and healthy.

Most I've been is around 230 about 4 years ago.

Dieted down to 180 in like a 9 month diet, wayy too long and I did cardio 6 days a week right from the start.  By the end I was eating a can of tuna and small packet of frozen steamed vegetables for meals and not losing weight.  Still wasn't done and lost a lot of strength.

Eventually got up to close to 230 again, last year.

Then dieted down to 202 with no cardio over 12 weeks, ending this February.   Didn't lose much strength.  Probably about 10-15kg off 1RM bench.

Then went up to 210 over the four months, about half lost strength has returned but still some fat gain.  Eating habits were again relaxing so, now on a four week diet to come back down to 202ish without losing too much of the strength.

Aim to be under 200 by the end of the year.  My goal is to be at 170-180kg bench press and under 90kg (and natural).

Realistically speaking, I would need to be at least down to 185 to be properly lean.

I'm essentially trying to cycle dieting with some periods relaxed eating habits to come down.

Being fat is a disgusting feeling.  I don't care what other people think, I find it personally quite uncomfortable.

Being fat is quite uncomfortable. When I permabulked, I frayed the crotch area of three pants. I was always sweating and stunk. I also got out of breath and sweat when eating.

Nearly every permabulker has "semblance of abs" and is 20% bodyfat.

You don`t even need to be in a surplus to gain muscle.  As long as protein is high enough is all that matters.

Im not arguing mate, Im of the same opinion in some sense.
Even in a deficit you are not in deficit for the entire day, once you have a meal you are going to be in a surplus for a while and will have the capability of adding new tissue.

And whilst the body has fat stores available are you ever really in a total deficit of available energy?

Only if you find yourself in a Concentration Camp.

I never understood what the extra 200-500 calories above maintenance were supposed to do anyways, especially when protein is already accounted for.  Its just another meme that needs to die.  I read a few studies recently about lifters in a deficit vs those in a surplus and those in a deficit gained a little more muscle while losing fat whereas the others gained muscle, but did not lose fat-some gained fat.

DIE MYTH!

I'm 6'3'' with wide hips and very long limbs. Permabulking ruins my lines almost instantly, I just don't put on enough muscle to offset the fat gain. I try to stay no higher than 15%.

I'd imagine that the best case scenario is to bulk naturally and then take tren ace and recomp

I'd bet that you could stay roughly the same weight while recomping drastically

too bad that I've given up the gear coz it would be cool to test this theory

the first time I ran tren ace solo I did recomp, staying the same weight but dropped body fat from 12 to 7
