No, for the amount of torture he endured, its appropriate.  If they simply followed Geneva Convention rules on enemy combatants, he would still be sitting in a jail.  Instead they tortured a 15 year old boy for over a decade for information that he would have never had as a child soldier.  They brutalized that kid pretty badly.  Evidence against him with throwing a grenade at a soldier is flimsy at best.
