That looked good, considering it looks like you have little/no leg drive on that.   It's pure pressing strength.

Thanks mate, I think I'm too lazy to use leg drive I just like to lie comfortably back and press, would likely be out of breath with leg drive
Legs do twitch slightly so maybe unawaringly use a little, an older video of close grip bench 120 (264) x 1 shows they move a little, yes I'm fat bloated and look like an old man haha

Slacks look a little loose. Do you not own a pair of zubaz, or do you prefer not to work out in good gym clothes.
 :)

Good lift bro

Usually do 8-10 reps on bench but last time I tried 315 on flat did 4 or 6. Work out straight out of bed (6 am). Much stronger at about mid morning so I wish I could do that more often.

Use to try a single for years every chest day after my work sets in the bench. Always hit 275 to 300lbs.  Now I have a slap tear in both shoulders and arthritis. If I bench 225lbs my shoulders will be in pain for long time.  I don't bench with a bar. I find dumbbells and machines protect my shoulders.  Never thought the bench was a good test of strength. Show me a guy with a good power clean and I'll show you a guy that can sprint, jump and is athletic.  The NFL has that combine test of a bench is a ridiculous test for a football player.

Yes, good sir.  Unfortunately the two heaviest videos are Facebook videos.  But anyone with a Facebook account will be able to see them.  All lifts here are in "gym form".  Of all the contests I have competed in, they have almost entirely been strongman contests, so I tend not to train with strict contest form.

Incidentally, I will competing in the CAASA Strongman Provincials next month in the lightweight class! So under 170-lb.  I'm looking forward, especially given that it is held in my city!  If all goes well, I will be off to nationals after that.  Here are the lifts for anyone interested:

340x2 [I would even call it 2.5, heh.  It was with a 50-lb bar]:

https://www.facebook.com/mattcanning1/videos/vb.512655848/10152277940400849

320x6 [I hate to say it, but I did not bring my camera to the gym on the day I did 315x8, partially because I was only expecting 1-2 reps]:

https://www.facebook.com/mattcanning1/videos/vb.512655848/10153215252005849

225x25:

Obviously these lifts are gym-form, although I realize I did not specify that in my earlier post on the subject.

My best lift in contest form was 310...arguably 315 though!  I swear, I HATE being the first to go in the contest.  The judge judged my lift the strictest, then when literally EVERYONE who came after me had bad form, he had no choice but to let it slide.

So I would argue my best contest bench was 315, and I would even go so far as to say I had 315x2 in me that day in contest form, weighing 172-b.  That said, I only officially got 310, so that will have to be on record as my best contest life - with full/strict contest form.

I placed second that day in the <180-lb class.  The only one to beat me was Dan Skaarup and he is honestly a pure freak bench presser.  His brother Luke has been as high as, I believe, 6th in Canada's Strongest Man.  The Skaarups in general are pure Danish freaks.  It is no loss to come 2nd to Dan.  He benched 350 with ease, weighing 180-lb on the button.  Again, absolute freak bench presser, who has previously benched pressed 455-lb at 205!  He, of course, beat me the next year in Thunder Bay's Strongest Man in the <200-lb class.  I placed 2nd that day in my first strongman contest, and have enjoyed the sport at the "low level" ever since.  As I have just had my third child, I do not wish to damage my fertility of health, so I keep it light, relatively speaking - for the sake of my joints, and my overall health.

All good bro. I honestly thought you exaggerated your numbers.

You bench strength is impressive, even more so when you consider your weight.

Kudos

Thank you!  I had to edit that post to add a couple of minor things.  :)

Yes, all in all, given my weight, I can say I am pleased with my bench, and my lifts in general.

It's funny how on Getbig, everyone goes to a gym filled with people bench pressing 315 for reps.  ???

I can honestly say that I have been at my gym since 2008, and worked out there off and on since 2001 prior to getting a full membership, and I cannot count ten men, myself included, who have bench pressed 315 for reps.  And when Dorian came to town in 2000 for a seminar, that doesn't count.  I mean among the regular members.

What gym do all the Getbiggers train at where everyone benches 315x12 for a warmup?  ???

I bench 430 today for two with gym form.

 ;D

JK, but I'm generally around 300 or so if I'm even somewhat consistent.  If I don't miss a bench day for around 14 weeks, I start getting up to 330-350 range.

Not to make excuses, but I do maintain a body weight of 170 for health.  It has worked for me, so I intend to stay at 170.  :)

Thanks mate I train all exercises in the same manner I feel it's far safer and more productive, for me at least, I know others can prosper from the explosive style.

Not a fan of the new style coated plates myself, I love those old rusted ones.

Your shoulders will thank you for that discipline, and no one looks good with a pec tear.

The only non coated thing in my gym is a pair a chains, love the complaints from those autistic gym rats :D

Yeah that is very strong.especially at 170.

Thank you, sir.  I am pleased with it.  I sort of max out around the 345 mark.  Although I can't say I've really strongly attempted to get past that plateau.

315 may be impressive for non drug users, but for those of us who're over 220/240 and user anabolics with 20+ yrs training, 315bid kinda expected.

I agree although i have never used anabolics, 315 was seriously very easy for me once i built up to it. I am fully aware that i was one in maybe 3 people at my small town gym who worked out with it. 225 was only used to stretch my muscles as it was not enough to work the muscle. 315 was my normal 3 set workout for a long time.
