gonna get a hot chick, just need to get a new scent

Well.  Everyone woman likes a man that smells good , they often let you know. ( try buying some scent and see for yourself  )

Buying supps to get big arms and great abs is still a scam sadly.

As far as supplement use goes I think it's at
an all time high. People here say competitors and pros
don't use them, that only the clueless fall for them, but that is false. Everyone uses a shitload of OTC supplements today. The gurus recommend them and believe in them for health and gains.

why is the fitness industry rotten to the core?

people believe that being in shape will help them relate to others, which is the case, but to a very limited extent.  however, "fitness experts" make a living by selling others the myth that being in shape has a huge effect on their relations with others.  there is only one person for whom this myth is "reality", and that is the fitness expert himself, who receives money and admiration by being a living example and teacher for others.

the student typically has no desire to become a teacher, though, and this is the heart of the scam: the path only works if the student becomes the teacher.  otherwise, even the most successful student fails to impress others, except a small amount.

thus the fitness industry resembles other scam-realms like monastic living, self-help guruism, etc.  note: i am not talking about people like coach, who prepare athletes for competition, but people who sell a "fitness lifestyle," such as ordinary personal trainers and youtube gurus.

The fact that fat, out of shape people are having a great time at cookouts, lakes ,bars, McDonnalds lol , amusement parks, the beach.
Makes you wonder if being a muscular stud is really that worthy in the everyday life, As fitness and guru folks make it look on YouTube

A lot of scams going on.

1. Celebrities and people in general going on steroids but want the credit for a physique they wouldn't have without the assist.

2. Personal fitness trainers with one or two week internet certificates that think that piece of paper makes them an expert on working out.

3.  All the supplements that use steroid guys in their ads that deceive a whole new generation that actually thinks the pill or powder will make a difference on how they look.

4. All the new exercises personal trainers make up as their signature contribution to the fitness field. I'm seeing some strange stuff in the gym these days. It's all good but people new to working out think doing a "Bulgarian one legged squat with a twist" is the secret weapon.

5. Maybe back to one but guys who are juicing advising others how to work out when they them self look like crap off the juice.

On a side note there is a near by run down city about 30 miles from me. Driving by a broken down play ground was a group of black guys working out there. They were doing pull ups, push ups, dips, body weight rows, free squat, burpees and other body weight exercises. They looked amazing, ripped and in shape. No gimmicks, supplements, steroids, personal trainers and expert research to get them there. Just a work ethic and pride.

i love the fitness industry.

a scam it is not.

there's great products being offered and being invented all the time.

such as?

Quote
its awesome that people can find a work in the industry and that people can be motivated.

Why?  People can be motivated and find work doing anything.  How does the fitness industry relate to other industries?  It's near the bottom, almost completely worthless.

Quote
and the money that comes in that enables bodybuilders etc to compete fulltime and not need other jobs its just great. and contests being arranged like mr olympia etc

bodybuilding contests are actually the lowest point in the "fitness world": the competitors are not healthy, the "competition" has degenerated from athletics to "looks only", they aren't attractive, they utterly alienate everyone except young people who have a healthy drive to improve their strength.

bodybuilders make a living by bridging this healthy drive to an utterly perverse "ideal".  just look at the ludicrous eulogizing ("going to war", " whatever it takes", etc.) which only makes sense when muscular appearance is placed as one's highest value.  you only have to look at the ordinary purpose of muscle (to move the body) to see that bodybuilding makes no sense, it leads to muscular obesity, posing (i.e. standing still), organ and joint degeneration, horrific stamina, etc.

Quote
even back in arnolds days when he didnt have any money he sold fitness stuff so he could start his career which lead to him being able to make movies etc instead of being poor and having to go back to austria and drive a truck.

so arnold got out of the fitness industry as soon as he could.  good for him.  he realized that only mentally ill pursue fitness as a main goal, and chose more sensible ways to reach his original goal, which was "to be remembered for thousands of years".  as such, fitness obviously took a distant back seat to his other aspirations, which is how it starts out for everyone.

only when people get sucked into the fitness world and, with no means of escape, lose track of their original aspirations do you end up with the modern absurdities that are supplements, lifestyle guruism, bodybuilding contests, and the like.

Quote
in short I APPLAUD the fitness industry and all the great things it brought with it. without it we wouldnt have arnold we wouldnt have professional bodybuilding we wouldnt have getbig.

getbig's best characteristic is its disdain for and relentless critique of bodybuilding.

Life is a scam. You are indoctrinated at birth. You can fight it all you want, but you will always fall into someone's pre conceived notion or stereotype. Nobody is an original.

The one's you see that are on IG posting only themselves and their asses and bodybuilding shots and selfies are the same ones that give the industry a bad name....that IS NOT the fitness industry, that's the scam. 90% of those clowns that are "fitness celebrities" have no clue they just know it makes them money.

How can you blame them for that by calling them 'clowns'? Being relevant on social media is the foundation of their success / income. It's pathetic, but that's how it works.

I wouldn't say this but a guy on this board I message with said without suspected steroid use you be nothing but a fat slob with a big bench. He said all the athletes that work out in your gym you are taking credit for their athletic success like they would be nothing without you.  What should I say to him?

Don't go there man. That's low, even by Getbig standards. Coach is providing a good service to young people. Sure he makes money, but he is keeping kids off of the streets, getting them fit, and trying to help them realize a dream.

Kids off the streets? I didn't know his gym was free to disadvantaged kids. I retract everything. Any rumors I heard are just that. Rumors.
