If the fitness industry wasn't a scam, it wouldn't be an industry to start with. C'mon, as everyone here probably, I tried to find out as much as possible about nutrition, training, etc.....How much do yo really need to know to get satisfying results? I had a good coach (who trained professional athletes). Himself agreed that after a 10-hour course, you knew 90% of what you needed to know and the rest was debatable. Same with nutrition. Some supplements might be useful....if you're not eating according to your training. It come in handy if you're lazy (and we all are at one point). As someone said, the only "supplement" that drastically changes the picture are steroids (I'm a natty). So if they were legal, it would be marketed as the only real game-changing supplement and clients would have to make up their mind if they want to go that road or not. As simple as that. Training and "growing" doesn't need much of a financial investment in fact.

Just having fun coach.  You have to admit all the guys that take credit for athletes working out in their gyms are huge. One guy in my area opened up a gym in an affluent area where many of the NY Giants and NY Jets lived.  Of course being the only game in town they all worked out there. Then because of all the NFL players that lifted there division I athletes started going there thinking there must be some magic going on.  Now he has a striving business training division I athletes looking to go into the pros. Everyone that gets signed becomes his success story.

Coach we are two of the only conservatives on this board.

Are you talking about Joe Defranco?

The biggest scam the fitness industry relates to the fact they use their image which was 100% achieved via drug abuse to sell "natural supplements" as the secret to achieving that body.

Another is promoting various workout machines as weight loss tools when in reality exercise is an extremely inefficient way to lose weight as compared to limiting calories.

Same for coaches pushing long session of mid-intensity cardio, circuit training, etc....Remember that less than 10 years ago, the industry was pushing the Power Plate.

Why do dips using a chair when you can do them on a piece of exercise equipment that costs thousands?

Back then, my first thought was: if being on a vibrating device makes you fit, daily users of the subway should be fuckin' jacked, no exception.

Yet, another is the implying that the machine was the primary reason for the weight loss and leaving out the fact that the person was on a restrictive diet during the time:

Most equipment made for non-professional use is total crap. In case people really want to train at home, I always advice them to start with a decent power rack and an adjustable bench from a respectable brand like Rogue or whatever.

You should use the fitness industry as a form of paying dues before using gear. Proper diet, training and supplementation should build a DAMN impressive physique..if not...you're either not ready for gear or don't have the genetics for gear.

Way back before the internet you would train your ass off and make enough gains to approach an oldtimer about taking it to the next level. If you were some newbie, fat skinny guy asking about steroids, youd be told to fuck off and go train and eat before asking.

Now everybody just starts on steroids..justifying it by calling bullshit on the industry.

I believe it's best to excommunicate that annoying twat or simply troll him back.
And yes, I know, sometimes it takes time to find out someone's intentions.
