Thanks, GYM! I'll check that out after posting the following important message which I just found on some internet site:

"Californians may be used to hearing about the threat of potentially deadly earthquakes, but a new study finds that quake-triggered tsunamis pose a greater risk to Southern California than previously thought."

One tsunami experts forecasts a huge wave of 100 feet possibly  hitting the coastline.

With that said ... I recommend that you do not rent one of those $20,000  a month beach shack.

I believe that I once read that the US government is cutting expenses by canceling the US Pacific Tsunami Early Warning Program.

And that that beach town immediately to the north of the LA Airport has road-signs showing the swiftest exit to the closest  high ground posted on every road in that town. (Sorry ... I forgot that town's name.)

Another reason to rent inland.

If you manage to get one job on a movie set, there is a good chance that you'll be offered others.
In the past I have argued with others on various internet boards about the 'impossibility' of getting work within the movie business.

I disagree entirely.

It's difficult but  .... NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

Most of the people who "make it" have the means to A. B. A.:

• Always
• Be
• Available

at the beginning of their career...Which is a real problem for say if in your "dayjob" you can't get time off for a four day shoot for a supporting role...or be crew member.

That would be impossible in my position. I was in LA on vacation when I was filmed for LA Ink and I just happened to get done with work early and stopped by American Jewelry when I got filmed on Hardcore Pawn. I would not have the luxury to leave whenever.

GYM*RAT,  I get asked that question more than I hear, "That you for your service!"

None of the family members are agents and they all abide strictly by the rules and usually only bring other family members into the movie biz (temporarily)  if the director says something like. "Do you have a family member who can do this  ........?"

And that is not a frequent request.

But both Rich Piana and Orvile Burke have played small roles in the past Planet of the Apes series (without my assistance) and I doubt that they had agents, so it is possible to get minor roles if you are in the right place at the right time.

But absolutely no one would recommend anyone that they did not know personally because if that person screwed up on the set or simply did not show up on time ..... it would be a bad reflection on the cast member who recommended him/her.

I'll do some checking to see if the SEG (Screen Extras Guild) is still in existence but I believe that  that organization has been long gone.

At present I am only familiar with SAG.

I think that Adonis and Marty have been successful in getting small roles recently and they may want to offer further information on this subject.

No just excise tax as far as fees.

There are alot of nice places West and South of the 405 Freeway.   In Torrance, there are quite a few cool places, and as you get closer to the ocean, it gets more expensive.  I would definately first get an apartment in a good area before buying anything, especially not, since prices are pretty high.

I live in the Western San Fernando Valley, about 25 miles north and west from LAX (L.A. Airport). I rarely head into Hollywood or downtown, except when needed (just went there to the Chinese Theater to watch Stan Lee put his hands and feet prints in cement).

Culver City is nice (where many of the bodybuilding events are), but it all depends what you like. The hustle and bustle with a lot of people, or less people in suburbs, etc.

Thanks Ron for the info. I will lose a good amount of the relocation package if I rent. So if I do move I will buy a home. I really would like to stay under $400k but that only buys a Port-O-Let in that area. My office will be in Compton. I am very curious about something. I make damn good money. How in the hell does the every day man making a modest salary able to live in that area?

Thanks Ron for the info. I will lose a good amount of the relocation package if I rent. So if I do move I will buy a home. area I live in by the beach. One of my neighbors owns a multi unit. 20 yearsagohd bought it for nothing. Migrant Mexicans were living in it and it was in horrible shape. Drugs etc. he bought it rehabbed it and it's worth millions now. My place is in a real desireable now but bitd it was surf bums and drugs. Some people got in real cheap.
