Salt Lake detective Jeff Payne - fire him immediately!
« on: September 02, 2017, 12:35:05 PM »

http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/national-international/Utah-Nurse-Cuffed-After-Refusing-Blood-Test-on-Unconscious-Patient-442451663.html

This officer needs to be FIRED immediately - it is this person that ruins it for the hard working police officers who care about people.  Assualting a nurse in a hospital is the last straw, and he needs to be charged and criminally prosecuted.  Stupidity is NOT an answer for having a badge.

============================

The video taken at University Hospital in Salt Lake City on July 26 shows nurse Alex Wubbels calmly explaining to Salt Lake detective Jeff Payne that she couldn't draw blood on a patient who had been injured in a car accident, citing a recent change in law. A 2016 U.S. Supreme Court ruling affirmed that a blood sample cannot be taken without patient consent or a warrant.

The dispute ended with Payne saying, "We're done, you're under arrest," and physically moving Wubbels outside while she screamed and said, "I've done nothing wrong!"

She knew he was in the wrong so she should have just gone with him instead of letting him upset her.

Once back at the cop shop his senior officer would have just sorted it out and he would have been suspended and she would have been able to pursue her claim for unlawful arrest.

The police officer knew he was in the wrong, but was an ass.  She showed him hospital policy, she told him her supervisor was in charge, and knew of the rules from the Supreme Court that he was told about. He chose to be an asshole, in front of everyone, dragging and arrested a staff member instead of talking to her boss.  He is done.  And if his boss told him to do that, that guy is done too.

Even cops should not be so stupid as to arrested a nurse who is doing her job at her work like that.

I know, but she shouldn't have allowed him to upset her...

I agree that what you say is a good general rule (imho).

But it could be said that she knows she has very serious obligations, there, in her job, and being arrested would prevent her from carrying them out.  So it can be seen as a reflection of conscientiousness, in this situation especially.

It can also be said (and is known to be true) that a highly negative reaction can occur when someone has reason to believe s/he is being placed under arrest, and especially when it should be known by everyone that the person is in the right... and anyone can see she was standing on rock-solid ground and in the right.

In a way, her response to it will probably help reduce these things in the future imo.  Maybe just a little bit anyway.

She was probably afraid that her license/career was in jeopardy

I'm glad to see this guy face the punishment he deserves, but any money that this woman (rightfully) gets will come from taxpayer monies, which doesn't impact the police at all.  I bet if these police misconduct lawsuits were paid out from the police pension fund we'd see a significant drop in these types of scenarios

Not at all, she was in the right and had the backing of her superior on the phone

That cop and his supervisor should rot in prison. Same for the other cops who witnessed the assault and didn't arrest the violent criminal on the spot.

Another dope w/ a badge. The few that do stupid things on occasion, ruin it for the millions who do a great job protecting citizens every day.
Libtards and BLM love to point out the few bad, cause trouble, murder some cops, etc. Never hear them thanking the brave ones who do a great job daily.

It's more than a few bad. There is overwhelming corruption in police departments throughout the country. Corruption comes in many forms.

there should be a law on hiring practices by the police department around the country....it seems like most of these Cops have less then a high school diploma and are deprived of common senses.....I guess if you failed your GED twice, you can always become a cop......

Retired Baltimore Police (whistle blower) Sergeant Michael Wood discusses the real problem with American police. It's not just one cop, we should not be focusing on the cop that arrested the nurse. Yet there was a whole chain of command that is responsible for the protocol the police officers use. Just listening to the many videos of this you can hear several officers speaking on how they meet resistance at that hospital and they have a high frustration level now. An ignorance to the law that starts with the top brass at the chain of command and trickles down to the officers on the street.
Give this video of retired Baltimore Police Sergeant a listen. He starts at the 1:20 Mark.

The average citizen knows more about the law and constitution than the average police officer.

Let that sink in.

This one would never have gotten to this point would it not for the video which is horribly incriminating to the PD.

The first rule of interacting with LE is that giving them an attitude will get you nothing but problems. That's something the Hebrews are still struggling with, hence their massive overrepresentation in the nation's fine institutions of correction and the bloated county jail rolls. That the officer was possibly wrong about hospital policy is beside the point at the time of the interaction; this will be addressed later by his superiors, who'll give him the proper ass-chewing that's coming to him. But challenging a detective in public is really not the right direction to take, especially with the existence of body cams pretty much working in the public's favor by recording everything they used to complain (but be disbelieved) about. Why give them more ammo when you don't have to?

The fact that she was a woman is another factor; women are frequently prone to emotional outbursts when given simple instructions by the police, with disastrous results for both parties.

Here's an example:
