What do you mean by assassin?  Do you mean you want to assassinate me or you do you mean asinine?  Just pointing out that the bench is one of the worst demonstration of strength. It's phony strength stating a big bench number if you can't back it up with a lousy 250lbs power clean.

Yes, pure Olympic lifters don't bench. Power cleans are used by many football players in addition to benching and other exercises.  Using the power clean and jerk will increase vertical leap and sprinting speed. The bench will do little to make a better athlete. Power is what makes a better athlete with strength being second. I watch the big bench press guys in my gym hit the heavy bag like a girl because they have no power. Bet a lot of strikers in the UFC and boxing can't bench 250lbs. The bench is one exercise that is over rated for a long list of reasons.

You hate the bench OT1. Most exercises done in the gym are useless for athletics and those who do the "athletic " lifts do them wrong anyhow.

Bodybuilders agent athletes they are competitors so are benchers

What percentage? I'd say about 5 or 10%. I know for sure I can't put up 350 right now. I have in the past though however all depends on body weight in my case. At about 2:15 I'm good for about 365 body weight of 220 225 and above I'm good for 350x1 on a good day... On a flat bench that is. Decline is much higher at a lower bodyweight

That's actually not so bad, at all.

You're one of the sharpest knives in the GB drawer (all, err, I mean, "no homo!"), so I'm curious:  what led you to Dino training?  How does it and the Mentzer stuff mesh?

When I was young(er)  ;D some powerlifting friends introduced me to J.C. Hise's program of 20 rep breathing squats.  At the time, I hated leg work but found out that I was quite good on the squat and took it as far as I could.  I liked the intensity of it all and thought I would give Mentzer's H.I.T. a try.  The Hise squat method worked great for me but H.I.T. not so much.  I went back to volume but reduced the volume by 50% or so but continued the Hise method of breathing squats for years.

One day over a decade ago while searching the internet I decided to look up J.C. Hise and found that Brooks Kubik was also a fan and bought his book "Dinosaur Training".  It was revelatory to say the least.  As with Mentzer, Brooks said you can train hard or you can train long but not both.  I tend to implement both methods in my training, sometimes alternating them but lately I cannot do thick bar training at all as it hurts my joints too much.  I had sawhorses in the garage for bottom position squats and bench presses but ultimately, training alone made it too difficult to really push myself with  either Dino or H.I.T.

So these days I just vary the theme of my workouts to include either style or a bit of both depending upon my mood/level of energy.  Some days that would include drop sets of curls and tricep pressdowns or close grip palms up pulldowns and machine bench presses.   Lately I do one or two working sets after maybe three warmups.  My left elbow sometimes "clicks" so I just drop the weight and do strict, slow high rep tricep pressdowns instead of the heavier drop sets followed by negative dips.

It's all good and as Franco Columbu once said, if it works...it works.   But I have found that I do need to rest and recover more and both styles encourage that.  ;D

Unfortunately you're on Getbig so that means Getbig logic applies to your claim.

That said, "315x10, 365x6 and 405x2-3" auto-translates into "185x10, 225x6 and 255x2".

My apologies, but GB logic is what it is.

Now in order to refute the GB logic you'll need various video clips from multiple angles showing you performing the lift.  You'll need to be almost naked so clothing and equipment doesn't aid you in the lift.  You may not use any spotters.  All weights used must be weighed on a scale prior to lifting on camera.   You'll need to provide a currently dated newspaper, birth certificate, driver's licence, social security card and a photographic portfolio of your professional, competitive bodybuilding career in order for your claim to be validated.  Also you're current weight must be 250+ and your bodyfat percentage below 10%.

You have a week....all the best!

This is all I can do for ya lol!

You do realize that would put you as one of the best bench pressers ever at that bodyweight.  Did you compete?

I was 24 when I did it. Non-sanctioned event at a bodybuilding show with Dave Shaw as one of the judges. I was training with Gus Rethwisch at the time when he was training for Running man

I did 305 for reps of 8 - 10 in my 30's. having seen first hand co workers tear muscle time and time again I forced myself to never get caught up in numbers, and so I didn't care what the weight was

I stopped maxing out in college, after I teared or badly pulled my left pec doing weighted dips. Shit hurt like a mofo and I couldn't work chest for months.

Not really training for max strength anymore but I assume that I could still move 350 @ least once at this point (50 years old now, give or take a month) , my last incline bench was 6 sets of 5 @ 285lbs so I'm thinking a week to get the Flat bench form tight again (haven't flat benched in quite a while) and then , yeah- fairly easily for a single.

With that said, I'm currently much more motivated to improve my romanian deadlift and front squat numbers as these are the lifts that will enhance my autumnal  years.

I generally do:
Warmup
 - 135lb's x 30 reps
 - 225lb's x 20 reps
 - 265lb's x 10-12 reps
 - 310lb's x 6-8 reps with spotter
 - 355 x 4-6 reps with spotter

Incline and decline max is around 310.

Weights I'm converting from kg' to lb's so might be off by a bit.

I rarely if ever go high reps on bench. Does nothing if you're trying to increase bench poundage
