We have a tablet at work running Windows 10 and Microsoft Office.  It's impressive that something so small can have all the capabilities of a desktop computer.  

The Snapdragon 835 will be able to run Window 10.  As a result, you can expect Windows laptops to get significantly slimmer and cheaper.

You're missing some facts.  Apple is charging a premium for their A11 where Snapdragon is trying to keep costs low.  Apple is fine charging you $1000 for a phone and sheep will buy it.  Samsung can use better, faster chips but it costs money and no one is paying $1000 for a samsung.

Considering Android has 82 percent of the global market compared to 18 percent for Apple, it's safe to say the Snapdragon 835 will outsell the A11.

This is actually a big problem for all the Android phone manufacturers.  There's just too large a performance difference between these chips for consumers not to notice or care.

Fragmentation. I think the OS not getting updates on most phones is a bigger problem. If you want android the only phone to get is a google pixel.

Buying phones every year are for sheep only. Still have a Galaxy S5 and only now am looking to upgrade. Small iterations don't mean much.

AR is a joke. Another way to delude. The next big step will be when smartphones run as PCs through docking stations, similar to the Note 8. Laptops/desktops will be shells with the exception of high end PC needs (graphic design and gaming).

I'm on a Chinese no name phone running a snapdragon 820 with 3GB ram and it's FLAWLESS in terms of performance. Unless you play heavy games or AR bullshit on a phone (read retarded) there is diminishing returns

even though phones have plateaued, they still need 120-144hz panels, i'd take a 1080p 144hz panel with Gsync (type technology) over 4k 60hz

Phones have not plateaued.  In fact, they are increasing in speed at the fastest rate of anything in technology.  The A9 launched just two years ago was half as fast as the A11.  I wouldn't call that plateauing.

TSMC's in volume production of 10 nm chips and Intel is still stuck at 14 nm.  Meanwhile, TSMC is getting ready to start making their first 7 nm chips.

Got a brand new HTC 10 that comes with a Snapdragon 820. It's a year old but got it for under $300. Couldn't be any more happier with it.

The processors might not have plateaued, but the need to constantly upgrade has. New phone sales have been steadily dropping. There's only so much extra crap they can put on a phone to make it distinguishable from the last.

I'm not saying people need to upgrade.  I still have an Iphone 4.  The reality is people care about their phone and will upgrade, which means Apple has tons of money to keep improving their phones and so do their suppliers like TSMC.  The pace at which the whole industry is progressing is quite impressive.
