This "sport" has been rigged since I started following it with Arnold. Why am I not surprised at the result tonight, lol

As much as we love to hate on Phil Heath for his herniated belly button/gut, he just dominates the competition. Ramy gave him a damn good run though. I hope Ramy comes back even better next year he needs to work on his back detail
They should rename it and just call the show Mr. Back Double Bi

Hmmm we will see if phil does more to market bodybuilding this year. I'm sure he will need to do something financially.

Chad Nicholls said in the RX wrap-up video after prejudging that Dexter Jackson's skin was starting to show age.

Uh wut?  ???

Considering most of his clients are dead, he should keep his comments to himself

Yea, Phil looks average top 6 physique wise from the front, but when he turns around, it's not even close, and that's why he wins

Arnold competed against a total of 4 people

Yet those 4 were more competition to Arnold than anyone that competed against Phil tonight.

But nice trolling  ;)

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I thought this contest was excellent.  Maybe I fear for the health of pro bodybuilders too much to be overly critical.

Can't believe Phil tied the great Arnolds record.

This and those guys in the same sentence. :-X  Phil had an alien growing out of him.

DO you think Phil will get #9?  Putting your personal opinion aside - I'm just asking you based on current and recent judging standards.

Darn, that one got removed.  Let me know if you have one that is working.

Johnnie O. Jackson's last contest...he is turning 47 in January!  Does anyone know what became of the tumor that they found on Johnnie's left lung?  I was worrying about Johnnie's health, but he looks better than ever...for whatever that is worth.  I suspect the same can be said of Dallas McCarver before he died also.  :-\

I recommend Johnnie's first bodybuilding DVD, which was produced by MostMuscular.com.  Great DVD - very informative, and it showed Johnnie's work ethic and powerlifting pedigree.  Great stuff.  He will be missed on the stage, but I think he is making the right choice to quite before turning 50.

I was hoping he'd make top ten again. But he's going out in style.

I can relate to Phil Heath in certain ways - we are both 5'9, have similar narrow clavicles as well as large heads that make us look even more narrow.  In that sense, Phil shows to me that it's possible for a man of my height and width to win the Mr. Olympia...

...but only with insane muscle bellies/tie-ins, the ability to get ultra shredded, great structure, round shapely proportions, etc.  But unlike strongman, at least in bodybuilding, you can go far being 5'9.  :)

They will not let Heath win next year, he must not break Arnolds record.

Arnold doesn't have a record anymore. The record belongs to Coleman and Haney.

A very emotional outcome for Phil, although despite Shawn Ray's comments, he must have known this one was in the bag.

Flex Lewis...once again referencing Georges St-Pierre, I'm reminded of him constantly being asked if he would fight Anderson Silva.  Fans who don't realize the importance of weight classes for lighter competitors thought that fight was feasible, but GSP knew that he would be 184-lb fighting Anderson, who may well have been upwards of 207-lb.  That is a massive weight disparity at the world class level, as well as a slight reach advantage.  Georges was never officially offered the fight until he defeated Johny Hendricks at UFC 167, but the question was ridiculous to begin with.

Likewise Flex Lewis SHOULD NOT move to the open class.  Why on earth would he move to the open class where he would round out the top six, or possibly get a fourth place finish at best?  Maybe in five years, assuming he Flex doesn't burn out, he could be higher than #4-6 in the open, but only if a particular series of conditions is in place - some top guys retiring, others coming in off, as well as Flex increasing muscle maturity and being at his best.

So I honestly don't get why people keep asking him this question - I think it's stupid.  But I suppose his fans look at him as being invincible, sort of like the fans of Conor McGregor, or the fans of any top athlete really.  But I know in Flex's mind that he knows the answer to the question of whether or not he will move to the open class is N.O.

[...unless he massively increases his N.O.-XPLODE maybe.  Massively.]

Surely that's a given.

Jesus Christ....no, you don't relate to him in anyway, shape or form. This rhetoric might be a little different if you we're a gimmick, but you're not. Fucking A..

I'm not comparing myself to Phil Heath as a bodybuilder or something - that would be stupid, obviously.

At the base level, you could say you relate to someone simply for being the same gender.  Simply for having a nose, two ears, five fingers on each hand, etc.

I'm just saying as a person who is 5'9 with narrow clavicles, it's cool to know that you can win the Mr. Olympia title *despite* being 5'9 with narrow clavicles.  Just like how Dimitar Savatinov's 2015 World's Strongest Man 7th place finish proves you can be under 5'10 and still be one of the top 10 strongest human beings on the planet.  Men under 5'10 are almost nonexistent at the world level.

Just as when Dexter Jackson won the Mr. Olympia, he was the shortest Mr. Olympia winner since Chris Dickerson in 1982 - bodybuilders under 5'7 could then say "Hey, I guess you don't need to be 5'8 to 5'11 to win.  In 2001, Shawn Ray said that Orville Burke was in the height range to be the champion, and I got the sense that Shawn did not think a 5'6 to 5'7 bodybuilder could win, as it was not within the judges' preference range:

6th~ Burke~ Surprise #1. I think even Orville surprised himself with this one. Up from 10th last year to the final posedown. Genuinely happy guy, two pro wins this year and a top 6 at the Mr. O, Dreams do come true! Orville said he killed himself for this show and was rewarded for it. Still needs better control over the mid section, thick skin, work on posing, drop a few pounds for better muscle control and separation. He has the kind of body the judges are rewarding along the lines of Coleman & Culter weight wise and height wise.

That's all that I meant, Coach.  Obviously I'm not saying I could ever be at Phil Heath's level - given that there likely haven't been 25 men in the world at that level, ever - I'm just saying it is interesting for me to think that a person can be 5'9 and narrow, and still be the top bodybuilder in the world *despite* possessing those two traits.  That's all I meant.  Not everything I say is controversial.  :)

He didn't dominate shit, he lost or was tied or, at best, was a tiny bit better than the 2nd place guy.  It was a squeaker that could have easily gone the other way.  He won't get 8.
