I’ve got a crazy idea. Eat around 1 gram of protein per bodyweight, hit 10-15 grams of fiber per 1000 calories and balance out the rest of your calories with carbs and fats, monitor your weight loss/gain on an empty stomach on the scale once a week and adjust calories accordingly.

that sounds moronic and a sure-fire way to develop a horrible eating disorder

Explain said eating disorder. I’m eating whatever I want and am losing weight at 3300 calories a day with zero cardio. If a sustainable diet implies an eating disorder then you’re correct.

do you have sleep apnea

No.

I am not necessarily worried that I am going to die in my sleep.

I just don't like the idea that one day I will cease to be a conscious being.

the mfp induced eating disorder shit, where there's always an extra level of interaction between you and your food

namely, having to always punch shit in, being unable to eat properly AS PEOPLE HAVE FOR THEIR ENTIRE EXISTENCE, etc etc

some people maybe manage but i'd bet dollars to cents MFP has resulted in more disordered relationships with food than any other single thing out there

esp in the bodybuilding/fitness population

Am i understanding this correctly? Did you say you want to debate the effectiveness of the box squat and how it carries over to the football field? Cool. Ask away.

nope, as usual you understand nothing correctly

I was referring to 1 rep box squats

1 rep anything is pointless unless you're training for a powerlifting competition

If I want advice on Box Squats I'd take if from someone like Poliquin

Go flip a tire Tubby

Quote
I never use them. With athletes, you want the most bang for your buck, the highest return, because you only have eleven weeks on average to train them during their off-season. So the choice of exercises becomes really important.

The problem I have with box squats is that their application is limited to powerlifting. The reason being is the goal of powerlifting is to lift the highest amount of weight for the shortest amount of distance within the rules. Essentially in the box squat, your shins don't travel forward. Now I don't know of any sport where the shins don't travel forward for propulsion. So the mechanics of the box squat aren't found in sport.

Do you think all the Westside people are up in arms yet and have me on their hit list? But it's the Bruce Lee principle again: use what is useful and reject what is not. Box squats are the only thing in the Westside system I don't agree with. They only have applications for powerlifting.

Also, any sort of restricted movement pattern tends to change soft tissue integrity. One thing you'll find with people who do a lot of box squats is that they're abnormally tight in the piriformis muscle, for example. In sports where you have to change direction a lot, the box squat will actually decrease your power because you won't be able to use those muscles efficiently.

Finally, most of the athletes I have are highly paid. There's a risk when doing box squats of the athlete bouncing on the box due to lack of concentration. The trauma that can result on the sacral vertebraes could be tremendous. There are just better alternatives. If you're a powerlifter, they're great. If you're any other type of athlete, stay away from the box squat.

Now, as far as bodybuilding is concerned, you can inject box squats sparingly into the training process. They will hypertrophy the thighs and glutes. But bodybuilding isn't an athletic endeavor. Most bodybuilders can't walk and chew gum at the same time. They're not known for coordination!

Oh, just to clarify. I don't box squat my kids at school. Only at my facility. If I could, I would.

Don't listen to the haters, Top Poodle. Like King Kamali once said, "for everyone who said I couldn't do it, I'd never make it, etc... thanks." :)

Here's my before photo for my Summer shred. The goal is to go from skinny fat... to skinny. :) I've decided to include some bodyweight resistance training to maintain and maybe build a little size. 50 reps push ups and 50 reps chin ups twice a week.

It begins...
