Looking awesome did you compete in classic (and win)? I may have missed it but this is a long thread!
Quads look diced and not easy to build at that height.
Thanks WalterW, I actually did Men's Physique and got my ass kicked by 20 year olds. But its purely due to my stupidity.
I didn't use a coach, and freaked out in the last week that I wasn't lean enough. This pic is actually from a couple weeks out. Anyways, in the last week like an idiot I dropped all carbs and on top of that I ran dyazide the night before. Resulted on stage looking like I was skinny fat. No shoulders and abs looked like fat loose skin. I think I would have done much better if I just walked on stage looking the way I did two weeks out. Oh well live and learn.
My legs look ok from the front (sometimes) but from the side they look like twigs. Also a mirror shot I think always makes things look better, and on stage its a dufferent story.
Working hard on them this off season and made small improvements but I dont think I'm classic physique ready yet (although I will finally be the young guy in the class as I will be competing in masters category).
First time ever, I've actually been properly dieting in the off season. I'm up to 6000 calories on workout days but can't seem to break 265lbs. Eating aroung 450g P 600 to 700 carbs and 100 to 176 fats (depending on what meals I have). Started doing DC training for the first time after reading about it for years. Never thought it would work, but the whole idea of keeping a journal and having to beat it seems to be working. Only reason I finally tried it is cause I don't think I've made much improvements in the last couple years. So after reading Dante's posts it kind of made sense to me to go back to the basics. Back to that work ethic of when I was a kid, trying to bench a plate for the first time. Pushing harder every week trying to get there.
Seems to be working so far. Getting stronger and thicker, but I guess I will find out in spring when I cut down.
Been thinking the last couple days about reaching out to Jordan Peters for coaching. Never used a coach before but having read a lot of his stuff, and listened to his podcasts Im liking his ideas of training and approach to eating. Maybe he can help put on a solid 5lbs (or better yet 10lbs) before May so that I wouldn't get laughed off the stage in classic.
Something I have to decide soon. I would much rather do classic then the bikini poses, but I'm not delusional and there is no way I'm getting on stage if I dont feel I would be competitive.
