Phil Heath - Undergoes Hernia Surgery 09-29-17
« on: September 29, 2017, 08:44:39 AM »
__mrsheath__ - Phil had two huge hernias. One above his belly button that spread 2 inches wide on each side where his upper intestines were caught within the torn tissue and muscle and a lower abdominal hernia which was apart of his umbilical hernia that he was born with (which was repaired at age 2 and was done horribly wrong) this lower hernia was so bad that it tore from side to side, up and down causing Phil to have a 3 inch hole that was an inch deep and had 4 inches of his small intestines hanging over that hole. The doc was able to push his intestines 5 inches back down into his abdomen and tightened his abdomen together and closed the holes. The doctor came to me after the surgery in shock that phil was able to live this way. He explained that hernias are genetic and Phil was born with very little tissue covering his abdomen. Doc also explained that phil has been using only half of his abdominal muscles due to his hernia at birth. Phil has been an athlete all of his life and this hernia was a ticking time bomb. He explained that Phil was a day away from a very scary and possibly fatal intestinal strangulation. His belly button was more visible this year due to the fact that his small intestine was literally inside of it, pushing it forward right underneath the skin. He said out the 20 + thousand hernia repairs he's done.. this was one of the worst he's seen.

-----------------------------------------

Phil accepts all the hate comes with being a Champion. The reality is... we live in a very troubled and hateful world! Phil and I have received so much vile and hateful comments and even death threats over his "stomach" this year. There is no denying that Phil was incredible on stage...bringing one of his most hard and conditioned packages yet! I'm still in shock he was able to do this all while in pain and days away from being hospitalized. ------------

------------------------------

I would like to thank all of his true fans and those of you who love the sport of bodybuilding. The positive messages that we received did make Phil smile. He's 7x MrO but he's a human being first! To those of you who realized that... THANK YOU! ----

Pretty obvious he had an umbilical hernia a while ago, no clue why this wasn't fixed earlier.... I think the bubble guts comments finally got to him and he got it checked out. I honestly don't buy this BS Story, I think it's GH related and he's getting plastic surgery/reconstructive surgery

I had a double inguinal hernia. Recovery is not too bad.

Hope he has a full recovery. And this may make his waist more svelte, which as Luimarco stated, would enhance his physique.

Easy recovery. He'll be back in the gym within few weeks. Only problem is taking shits for few days after the surgery.

And walking. I had difficulty walking and pooping for about two weeks. Pooping is tough because you can't push too hard.

Same here.

Ignore SF1900, Jago.  ;D  He Never1AShow because the lone time that he competed, he chose to ignore conditioning for size, after saying "F*ck it, I'd ratherbebig."  I was Disgusted with his conditioning.

PS - Phil has had multiple hernia surgeries?  Yikes.  I wonder what other pros have had it, that we have not heard about.

What a pathetic piece of fucking shit Heath is, so now his tiny belly button hernia is the worst the surgeons ever seen? What a heap of shit, there are plenty people living with massive ones far worse who can’t get an op, having to still work with it and just get by trying not to injure it further. Pathetic excuse for a ‘man’

I don't know why Phil's girlfriend is making it seem like a big deal. As stated, I had a double inguinal hernia and my intestines were popping out on both sides. I went in for surgery about 2 weeks later. It really wasn't that big of a deal. Sure, a hernia can become strangulated, which you can die from; however, to say that Phil's was the worst hernia in 20,000+ thousand surgeries, is a little outlandish.

What causes umbilical hernias?
An umbilical hernia occurs when the opening in the stomach muscle that allows the umbilical cord to pass through fails to close completely. Umbilical hernias are most common in babies, according to the Mayo Clinic, but they can also occur in adults.
African-American babies, premature babies, or babies born at a low birth weight are at an even higher risk of developing an umbilical hernia. There is no noted difference in occurrence between boys and girls, according to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Center.
An umbilical hernia in adults usually occurs when too much pressure is put on a weak section of the stomach muscles, due to factors including:
being overweight
frequent pregnancies
multiple gestation pregnancies (having twins, triplets, etc.)
fluid in the abdominal cavity
stomach surgery
having a persistent, heavy cough

Heath really should just stop talking, posting, communicating in any way - it would be slightly harder to tell he's retarded that way.

Wasn't working. I usually give a slight push.

I can't even recall what pain meds they gave me.

I had an inguinal hernia repaired about 30 years ago. Didn't even know I had it until job promotion physical revealed it. Was it from weight training? I have no idea. Once fixed, it was never a problem again.

On the plus side, I had the surgeon replace my long ago dead testicle with a prosthetic one.  The testicle died when I had the mumps at 14 and didn't say anything to my parents because I thought I caused the hugely swollen testicle by masturbating too much. I've often wondered how things would have been different had I had two working balls instead of one to get the rest of the way through puberty. Heck, I might have become the next Schwarzenegger....or maybe John Holmes. Either might have been fun.

That sucks. You probably couldn't take it up the ass during that time either.

I had mine repaired about 14 years ago. My father, uncle and grandfather all had hernias. Genetics.

Since my repair, no problems.

I am sure hernias are not uncommon among bodybuilders. We have seen quite a few umbilical hernias step on stage over the years.
