The Yankees were built for 2018 and very much like the 2015 Mets, are ahead of expectations. Hopefully for the Bombers, they fare better than their crosstown counterparts have since then.
"Ahead of expectations" is just a built in excuse, in case the Yankees lose.

The Yankees absolutely have the talent to win it all. Now.

yup, they were definitely ahead of expectations wich led to the acquisitions of Robertson / Kahnle / Gray / Frazier, which changed them dramatically into a *right now* team.

I'm not a Yankee fan and just speaking as a sportswriter who covers baseball. (I'm actually a Mets fan.) This stock of 'Baby Bombers' was supposed to get them close and then a huge free agent offseason acquisition would have put them over the top. IMO, they have been playing with house money since making the wild card and should have - talent level alone - lost to Cleveland. I'm a traditionalist and am rooting for Yankees-Dodgers World Series.

I spent a week at ST this year going to a couple Yankees games, then up to St. Lucie to watch the mets for a few days.   Where are they now vs. then is completely backwards.

I can't call it house money anymore.  From a talent perspective, Yankees offense was better than Cleveland's this year, their bullpen is deeper (actually historic considering 5 guys in their pen could close for most teams), and a starting 3 of Severino / Tanaka / Gray is as good as any team, strengthened even more by the reemergence of Sabbathia.

It's only going to get better - their farm is mega deep with elite talent, their GM can't miss on anything right now,  and their payroll is shrinking at a time when the best FA class in MLB history is a year a way.

Mets should trade us Degrom and rebuild.   ;D

Mike Trout will have pinstripes on in a year from now.

Only if the Yankees choose to empty their farm.

Not quite sure about that.

But, as a fan, I'm happy they actually do have the pieces to do it.

The Angels can't afford to pay Trout what he's owed because they got suckered into the Pujols deal. Fucking Liar was a few years older than he claimed

Trout should be traded because that franchise sucks and doesn't appear to have a window of success anytime soon.

Trout could be the best player ever when he's done, and should be on a bigger stage.

Mets' injuries have derailed their progress the past two years, as well as players such as D'Arnaud not fulfilling big expectations. But they still have key pieces in place (starters, closer, LF, etc.) to right the ship again. DeGrom is such a great talent and they didn't think that highly of him as a minor leaguer and when he was first recalled, pitching him out of the pen in middle relief/mop-up duty before he got a spot start. They should lock him up as soon as possible.

I think that Cashman has done a tremendous job with the Yankees, who were saddled with aging stars with albatross-type contracts.

With Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, and Greg Bird all hitting; no team will have an easy time with the Yankees. Yankees just won 3 games in a row over the Astros.

Dodgers pitching will shut them down

True but will they get enough runs to help win?

Yanks top three can match the Dodgers, and the Yankees bullpen is historic.    Plus, LA's offense was 12th best in baseball, the weakest of the playoff teams.

But then again, they said the same thing about Cleveland and Houston having Kluber and Keuchel shut them down.

All moot though until the rest of the games are played - for both leagues.  Could easily turn into Cubs/Astros, Yankees/Cubs, etc.....

Looks as if the ALCS will go the distance while the 'senior circuit' may be wrapped up much sooner.

Severino / Verlander is a coin flip.

Dodgers just sent a message. They didn't take the possible sweep well last night, adjusted and promptly kicked the living s**t out of the Cubs #GOBLUE
