Test by itself has always worked great for me.
I think it's important to distinguish between real "growth" and the more temporary "perma-pump" (extra glycogen, rbc , intra muscular water retention etc.) that goes along with certain substances , higher dosing, orals, etc.
If I add Dbol to a cycle a layperson might think I've gained 20 pounds rather quickly...............I haven't, what I have is "swollen up" and the scale will reflect the drugs ability to enable one to hold more water and glycogen than before.
Even at 250 mg/wk test alone- a 200 # lifter who eats somewhat reasonably and knows how to be consistent with intelligent training can look the way many here use at least a gram to pull off.
Patience, time and consistency are really the trick.
Genetics play a role but unless they super suck, just test even at lower doses works really, really good for growth.
