Have you noticed that almost every guy with a bicep is now offering his training services to “clients”? It’s hard to look at social media and not see a guy who works out peddling his training services. These services used to be limited to bodybuilding champions, but lately it seems like anyone who has ever flexed his arm now sees himself as some sort of guru and soliciting “clients.”
I have seen a lot of posts lately that go something like this: they post a picture of someone in trunks or a bikini (maybe a before and after) and then caption it with “I’m so proud of my client Chris… who made such progress in the gym. Direct message me for info on training programs, fees, etc.” There is nothing wrong with entrepreneurship, of course, but it used to be you actually had to be a bodybuilding champion, a certified personal trainer, or some kind of nutritionist to have the credibility to solicit clients. Not anymore.
In the old days back 25 plus years ago remember how basically the gym owner or one of his employees would just give you a program every 8 weeks for basically free and people would help each other out.
Personal training was basically a bastion for the well off and/or celebrities, much like having a nanny.(another thing where basically you left your kid with the local stay at home mom or babysitter after school and paid them in dollar bills and/or take something from the fridge plus 10 bucks for your trouble)
Now everyone needs their hand held in everything they do and are willing to spend hundreds, if not thousands for these services, not so much because they really need them as much as because everyone does it and they want to fit in.
Think about this Bay, who would ever have thought that Dog Walking would have become such a big business in the past decade. pretty much unheard of which is why the majority of dogs have goddam separation anxiety today whereas before they were basically house trained.
