Have stupid laws, make stupid arrests.

The position that drugs should be illegal is predicated on the assumption that the government has greater dominion over your body than you do, which is false.  That's why people are going to do what they want to do in the privacy of their own living room and prohibition will never work.

It will, however, help people willing to do violence get very rich and influential, and preserve fat budgets for a lot of pointless law enforcement and prison profits.  It's a gravy train on both sides of the law so it's unlikely to change.

Like Stanhope said, the only ones against drugs being legal are people who have never used drugs and people who sucked at using drugs.

Charged with possession/dealing Gabapentin? Seriously?

Damn people are getting desperate, but you can't stop an addict from abusing drugs. Take options away and they'll just go elsewhere.

That caught my eye too. I've been on it before and definitely not a recreational drug unless i'm missing something.

Just follow the money. Police, prison system, rebabs (all over tiny NH) etc.  I watch that show live pd and they are always tricking people to search their vehicles or brining over the dog.

Gabapemtin isn’t even a rec drug? I don’t follow.

Unscheduled too...? Getting pulled over with this is synonymous with getting pulled over with a box of aromasin or nolvadex  in my car, is it not?

Someone told me it was scheduled, but I looked it up and it wasn't. But lyrica is schedule V, and lyrica is basically the same thing. Might depend on the state/jurisdiction.

Whatever happened to just smoking pot?? Or drinkin a few beers? Cmon why not just buy phenibut with your visa and have it shipped to your doorstep by the government then! Skip meeting the creepy drug dealer. My 92 year old grand ma was on these things for a while and quit cold turkey no problems at all. Guess she was lucky. I was just reading google and wondering why anyone would want to abuse a drug like this? It doesn’t. Get u high then cut king off u feel like the world is ending and can’t sleep for 45 days lol

Just a guess, but I'd bet these were young people that got hooked on prescribed pain meds (both their own, and their parents's), and now they're moving on to cheaper, harder alternatives. New England has very high prescription opioid rates, and the chickens have come home to roost.

Also it's hitting white rural and suburban populations extra hard, so you're seeing more coverage of it. Here's a good article that puts numbers to it -
