Wawa is a convenience store chain primarily located is southeastern Pennsylnaia and Southern New Jersey although you can now find them in Virginia and Florida. They are top notch and probably rank near the top compared to similar stores across the country, like Sheetz (western Pennsylvania) and Royal Farms (mid-Atlantic).

I just wish they would do something about the panhandlers!

Yes.  They've made a very aggressive turn around over the last 10 years... building new stores with gas stations and they've improved their service and food quality tremendously.  They are basically taking over the sandwich/hoagie market.  Hard to believe Subway even still exists... not for much longer, I predict.

Recently a guy in his late 20's made over $100 a day (a four hour day) and was picked up and driven home in a 2015 Mercedes.

He admitted that it was sometimes over $200  just recently in a local pub while begging for a Budweiser. because he couldn't find a job due to the bad economy.

The bartender told us that he was in each day, had one beer, and drove home in his Mercedes and has been following that routine for a long time.

Turns out that many of them (probably most) are total scammers

Before the local news broke the story about this group in Hayward I watched one of these scammers that was always outside the local Whole Foods walk around the block and get into a brand new minivan

There was this mid 20’s guy with a cardboard sign on the 92 off ramp in San Mateo in nice shiny dress shoes and jeans dressed better than me. The sf locals are good about not handing money out to the homeless bc they deal with their shit everyday. But outside the city like the peninsula there aren’t any bums so ppl from there give more handouts when they are in the city. The bums on BART you can smell from 20 ft away.

Just one of the reasons why I won't give these sign holding beggars any money.  One guy along the blvd I frequent has a sign that says:  "Help me get my wife back".   I'd have much more respect for him if the sign said: "I need beer money".
