Well, if you you're an American or Canadian you can't really comment as all the 'Red Skins' were wiped out and in modern terms exterminated or put in concentration camps.

The French at least attempted to bring civilization and development in their colonies, if their subjects did not engage in wars of 'liberation', they would be far more prosperous and better off today.
