This was a pretty popular look among guys who lifted back in the day. You would buy a Ralph Lauren polo shirt one size too small so that it would hug the guns tightly.
Yup, I had 2 0r 3 of them and a couple of Izods.  They fit nice and tight and my guns were looking good.

Tom Magee

I have known Tom Magee personally since 1993. Have trained with him dozens of times. Greatest, sweetest, kindest guy ever. Nobody can say a bad word about him. Never knew him while he was huge. By time I met him....he had come off all drugs and was in low 200lbs. Interesting man who kyacks, climbs mountains, surfs....does it all. Lives life to the fullest. He got healthy fast after his Strongman movie years and never looked back. There is a recent Santa Monica Venice beach promo of Tom these days looking slim and healthy on youtube.

Saw Prince at the Southern States before he moved to Cali a few times. He was huge.

Victor Richards standing in the lobby at the Mr Montreal back in the late 80's his thighs looked like balloons under his pants

Claude Groulx, used to work at a gym I went to when he was an amteur right up until after he went to california after his first pro shows, wide shoulders and freaky calves

Bob Weatherill= too me one of those underrated pros, guys had total mass with class, crazy calves and the separation between his biceps and triceps at when he raised his arm casually was crazy. I remember some around the gym a few times jokingly refer to him as a straight bob paris, they did look alike and had similar builds

Henderson Thorne--did not look freaky as far as size but looks compact and dense

Greg Kovacs---saw him both before and after he won the Candians as he would be around the gym I was at the time, just astounding how massive that guy was, wider than a door, if he had the endurance chops he probably would have made a great wwf monster

Vince Taylor--in the lobby at a show he was guest posing at, just impressive in person and came across as very nice, saw him excuse himself to chase down a little bantamweight who was leaving with his trophy to congratulate him on winning his class

All the pros competing in the 1998 toronto pro onstage, Ronnie won. We like to make comments about different pro shows but until you have been to won you just cannot fanthom how these guys look in person onstage in shape.

Makes me shake my head sometimes when someone slags a guy like Cedric for coming in tenth in the Olympia, its like are you fucking kidding me, the guy qualitfied and place 10th in the biggest contest in the world. There is only 1 mr olympia, 1 mr universe, 1 world champion, 1 mr usa, i mr britain etc etc etc per year that wins the overall, don't discount all the other people that placed lower, they competed with the best of their state, province, country and world.

Look at a guy like BeThere, the guy competes in the top of his country, whether he places first or last he made it farther than 99% of us, that is pretty cool whether he thinks so or not

Great picks. Weatherill is a friend whom I watched train over many years while he was chasing his pro card. Awesome build. Richards was a true freak. Thorne was another whom I witnessed over many years. Thick and very strong. Kovacs was simply gargantuan. Almost overwhelming overall size.

Agree with the Dillet. Saw him train and pose getting ready for a show.

Victor Richards in the mid 1990s. At a guest pose.  Inhuman.

Matarazzo in contest shape was crazy, width and lower legs from another world

Ian Harrison I believe......I have racked my brains to think who this dude was and Ian Harrison is what I came up with. This was years back in a Bournemouth all you can eat place and I just remember getting some food, a plate in my hand while I scanned the various offerings and suddenly I noticed this geezer.....Honestly I have never seen a human like it, this guy looked like a cartoon character. I gotta admit I felt fucking inferior and it was made much worse cos I was with my girlfriend. He had dyed blond hair cut short and was tanned as fuck with very blue eyes but facially he was that not that good, looked old and a bit lined. Did not matter though as he was absolutely exploding out of his shirt, massive arms and I mean massive here not seen before ever in my life and the dude was so wide and broad, huge delts, traps, forearms, the lot......He had some really skinny bird with him but every chick in the building was eye fucking the guy and it made me realise that when you get to that size, if you can girls will throw themselves at your feet. It killed me inside when my girlfriend asked me 'Who is that guy'..........
He owns a gym in downtown Bradenton Florida these days.

When I first walked into Gold's Venice in 1992 there was Flex, Cormier, Baker... but the most jaw dropping was Paul Dillet. Huge beyond belief. I didn't really know who those guys were until later because I stopped following bbing since the 80s. Dillet reminded me of Frankenstein. Pictures always seem make them appear less impressive than when you see them in person.

Most of the Pro's I ever met/saw close up were after the British Grand Prix in the '90s.  So that would be a lot of heavily tanned forearms and cheekbones, but I've got 3 and I've told all these on here before...

Eddie Elwood in seminar - first Pro I ever saw in the flesh - fully clothed in jeans and sweatshirt, but tucked in at the waist.  As he walked past me and nodded to us he turned towards the table at the front of the room and he looked as wide as a f**king aircraft carrier!

Sean 'Dino' Davies in (I think) a Holland & Barrett in Wolverhampton in one of those cut down string Tees and loon pants.  Along with the massiveness, the main thing I noticed was the layer of what I can only call 'fur' all over his body...  :P  Obviously caused by supra-normal T-levels but at the time I didn't know that....

Ray McNeil - after the GP - obligingly dropped his trousers and let me (and others) squeeze his legs (bit homo).  Closest I've ever been to Pro-level conditioning with striations/feathering, etc...
