They are doing the right thing.
They are deliberately discrediting this person as a mental patient to ensure that the religion of peace garners no more publicity for its cause.
The fact that the media blow this shit up every time it happens is precisely what these uncivilised people desire. They want the attention. Restriction of this is good. It is of course completely impossible when the act is too visceral but in this particular case nobody has died (again, I think), which is great news.
Earlier on this year, a bus driver in Australia was randomly doused with petrol and set on fire, killing him. They kept that one massively quiet. Again, a mental patient and absolutely no motive ever disclosed in public. It was a master stroke. To this day, I am still wondering.. why? (I could probably google it, but it certainly didn't make major news that I read).
I don't know, rocket...I think these incidents will happen just as often whether or not they are publicized.
What point are you trying to get across by mentioning school shootings that kill like 20 people out of 300million+ a year? If i remember correctly that's around the same number of people that are killed by kangaroos every year in Australia.

The problem is, people have a hard time ignoring visceral things - another example would be plane crashes. People are so worried about plane crashes, for example, and for the same reasons: they are vivid and profound. They draw our attention, but ultimately, air travel remains the safest mode of travel.
Again, 20 deaths out of a population of 300+ million people is FUCK ALL. Again - seriously, who gives a fuck? Of course the deaths of these people are tragic - even more tragic in that they are so young and have not lived their lives yet. But it is still comparable to the number of people who die each year in the USA each year by tripping and falling on cutlery.
Australia gave up their political freedom from being able to defend themselves against an intrusive government, and they are bragging about how much smarter they are than Americans? Yeah, they are just geniuses for doing that.
