I work as a gardener, but yes pretty much, sitting doing nothing is my favourite pass time. The now is always fresh and never gets boring.
Welcome back, Big Ro!
Living in stillness is liberating, for sure, but there is always a price to pay.
As you know, time is destruction (see, e.g., Krishna to Arjuna in Ch. 11 of the
Bhagavad-Gita).
The past is nothing other than the obliterated present, which, being but a fleeting appearance, lacks real worth.
On its own, man's existence is vacuous, which is why boredom ensues to demand the vain attempt to fill its emptiness.
The Dharma, as you also know, requires teaching and obedience. It is corrective. Understanding requires clarity.
So, I believe you meant to write that your favorite way to pass time is to sit, doing nothing;
perhaps this is why too much gardening in the vineyard of "Om" led you to misspell 'pastime.'
Namaste,
Kahn
