I've lived many places including Hawaii, Southern  Ca. and Florida.....
San Diego area is best overall.....

Grew up there, but moved up to Ventura several years ago. Houses still expensive, but much less traffic and slightly cooler temps here. Close to the water. Thinking of going further up the coast, maybe to San Luis or Pismo.
Spent time in Orlando/Tampa. Hot, muggy and buggy summers...no thanks.

Today I think anywhere where the sun is shining and it is warmer would be great. -Got spoiled during the previous three day warm up to 75 degrees and above....and the sun was out.

LIved in Texas 24 years. Nothing against it. Just want beaches with nice water, warmer winters and Texas doesn't offer that. But I'll always have a place in my heart for Austin

Thought getbiggers retired with 10K worth of monthly income. I retired with a little over 6K worth of monthly income. No, I'm not rich but doing better than most retired guys.

You mean everyone here doesn't have a 9" cock and live in a 4 thousand sq foot house on the ocean?

Yes, I do well as a cashier.

You bring home over a 100k as a cashier? Taking home 9K a month means your are well over 100K gross.

Heading out to San Diego soon to visit a relative in June. I live in NJ.  Her property looks insane with a sliding gate like a movie star to enter the property. She is taking me and the wife to some luxury get away in Palm Springs. Can't wait.

spent 4 days in Tampa Bay area looking at properties. Clearwater beach is where we stayed. It was nice. Actually had some of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen. But it is tourists and beach bars which I love but not the wife's thing. We looked at properties in the suburbs. Found a beautiful home in Hunter Green Golf Course community about 30 min outside downtown Tampa. Gated community, community club house, fitness center, restaurants and tennis courts. Wife absolutely loved the house, 3000 sq ft 1 story backs up to a preserve. No pool on property which is a negative. But I felt this could be anywhere in the US.. If you are going to move to florida, you should have some water views.

Next was the Clearwater, St Pete Beach area. I personally loved it and if single would choose it. Great beaches, great restaurants, lots of people watching but you would have to deal with traffic and tourists during holidays and spring break.

Then we focused on Condos down town and Harbor Island. Amazing views of the city and harbor from some of the condos but I'm not looking forward to high rise living again. Especially with a dog. So we are looking at the Hyde Park Area and have a couple we are interested in. Its 104 in Hot Springs today and 80 in Tampa which is a huge selling point. The wife has been all over the map on what she wants which can be frustrating, so I am backing out and letting her take the lead. I picked our current location so she gets to pick the next.

We really loved the Tampa Bay area and looking forward to moving there in the next couple months.

I'm talking after taxes and insurance. but the reality is you're 6k a month is well over the average and I could live very well on 6K a month, as I'm sure you do. Congrats!

Silva North Carolina

If you mean Sylva....lol.  There's no real jobs out there, not much stuff to do out there.   It is however a very unusual crossroad to everything.  Usually I head to Cherokee if I want to do anything....especially if I want to see a movie because the seats are extra large and comfy than most typical theatres since they have to accomodate the girth of the Cherokee.   I also head to the Casino to eat at the best places...didn't gamble since I worked at Lowes...lol.

You can also head over the mountain and its 30 miles to Gatlinburg, TN if you want to check out Dolly Parton's tits and shit....and there is a ton of shit you can do out there.

With that being said, my usual habit when i lived in Sylva  when I wasn't working was a trip to Signature Brew Coffee Company for a cup and to read the paper during the weekdays, pick up groceries and stuff at Walmart, and head home....and that was it.  If I was off on Sunday, I would go to City Lights Cafe for brunch...usually Eggs Benedict, then go upstairs to the bookstore and purchase a used book....usually about a 5 dollars along with checking outside for the free stuff....found some gold out there.  I would then head out to Uncle Bills Flea Market but then that was it.

And that's Sylva for ya.  I only moved there for Vissy but after our divorce, I got out of there as soon as I was able to save enough money

In Thunder Bay, Canada.

My suggestion to anyone where rent is HIGH and property is LOW is to get into renting houses.  You can pick up houses in Thunder Bay for around $100,000 still, and easily get $1,250 in monthly rent [with utilities being paid for by the tenant].

Also, Thunder Bay has a very low cost of living, and very clear seasons.  I love the freezing winter.  It's nice to just stay inside during the winter.  I think it helps me compartmentalize my life, and just not think about how I schedule what I do over the course of the year.  Big city life is not for me.

lol.   Thunder Bay has the highest crime rate per capita in Canada....also too fucking cold

Matt prefers to live where there's a high crime rate because he believes it makes his world views credible and also because he can give me shit about living in a lily field that is devoid of all races except whites. He thinks I should move to the ghetto because I'm a liberal thinking person. It's too bad he can't travel back in time, become a Jew and have residence in Nazi Germany so he can prove first hand that the Holocaust never happened.

Florence. Just driving distance to all attractions, and far enough for certain antipodes not to borrow a spanner, cup of sugar.  ;D

Check out Sarasota before you commit to Tampa, you owe it to yourselves to at least take a look.
