Jay was a great Mr Olympia because he made such an easy target for jokes .. from the half-assed product lines (Swole Monkey anyone?) to the ridiculous supplement ads (Jay holding a beaker talking to some guy in a labcoat) to the ridiculous endorsements (anabolic mouthguards, etc)

And yet he never engendered outright hate for some reason.. unlike some other pro BBers. Maybe because he was juuust good enough to win Mr O, but never so dominant as to be in the running for GOAT. Or, maybe it was because he never really seemed to get mad or angry with anyone. Just a big, goofy guy living his life. Simpl'r times indeed
