Yeah, I don't doubt it could happen. Hell yes, in a place like that. They love to get someone in a spot they can bleed every possible nickel out of him.

Seems to me, the clincher is whether he admits having himself positioned in a way that someone could possibly see his drill. Why wouldn't he choose to stand in a way to make it very unlikely or impossible for someone to see? Peeing with windows in front of him, even a hundred feet or more away, means (at the very least) he welcomed the possibility that someone may notice.

Right there, everything begins working against him.

Yep, it's a bit fucked. Really. I'd bet anything the manager was all keyed up about the many news blips, showing guys who hang about looking out of the corner of their eye at the electronic equipment -- then, at just the right moment, they're out the door with it.

He should've been a little more careful, though. Just post a few notices around reminding customers to keep watch on their stuff. Maybe Starbucks (the corp) wouldn't like that, but tough shit. As a manager, don't tell them you've done it. Let them figure it out.

No, he didnt have a right as it's now been clearly demonstrated and he was brutally fired. He was a store manager but he simply failed to look ahead at his actions to see how they would play out

I've had it happen a few times. Gas stations and a few other places. I bought a drink, used the bathroom and went on my way. Like a normal, civilized member of society.

Being forced out by Starbucks isn't what I call quitting.....they prob gave him an exit package to leave quickly. I would have let them fire me to be honest but Starbucks has already started the campaign of laying the blame squarely on the store manager. And why are you putting me in the mix for??? I'm just stating fact. Don't go into combat if you don't have air support or reinforcements. The "store manager" title doesn't mean squat if a company doesn't treat you or back your decision

facts are they were well within there rights to asked them to leave. fact they should have left or bought something. fact the media turned it into a racist issue before knowing the facts. fact store manager probably was getting threats so not worth getting hurt over.

Looks like the left is starting to eat their own. Starbucks is a liberal company from one of the most liberal cities in the United States. Most of its employees are liberal as are most of its customers. Philadelphia is a democratic city. Not a good ol’ boy to be found in this entire mess.

Another explanation is that we’re in an election year and the dems need a big black turnout in the worst way. Thus you see the ridiculous amount of patronizing and crying wolf.

Vince, how long were they there? Do you believe someone should be able to occupy a seat in a business without purchasing anything? Is 30 min reasonable? 60 min? Good manners is leaving or purchasing a drink, which was both an option and they decided they would rather refuse and get arrested.

If you are not patronizing the business, you are loitering, and if you continue to do so after being asked to make a purchase or leave, then you are now trespassing. Starbucks is closing thousands of stores across the U.S. on the afternoon of May 29 to conduct "racial-bias education geared toward preventing discrimination in our stores," the company said in a statement.

Starbucks has apologized for the incident, and CEO Kevin Johnson said he had a "goal of doing whatever we can to make things right," and promised "any necessary changes to our practices that would help prevent such an occurrence from ever happening again."

On Monday, Johnson met with the two men who were arrested.
