virgin country? unexplored?...holy negationism batman!
pre european invasion there was a native population between 50-100 million . native americans had been present for 10,000 + years . hence them being referred to as "native".
gunpowder, germ warfare and mass genocide is what made the europeans such "great" settlers.
what next? there wasn't really any slavery. there was just slightly reluctant volunteers ?
Come on, try to at least think logically. Some assertions you seem to be making are patently ludicrous, and I am sure you can recognise them as such.
- 50-100 million inhabitants? So up to 30% of current populalion levels? In an age where towns of 100,000 people are considered small? You cannot in good faith claim having teepee towns of 20,000+ tents were the norm back then. The local resource depletion would have been as disastrous as it is now or worse.
- Also, anyone claiming dozens of millions of indians were eradicated is an idiot. That would be claiming more indians died than jews and others in the holocaust and holodomor combined. Where are the literally thousands of mass graves each containing thousands of skeletons each?
- Virgin country? Parts of the US are still not even settled this very day. Explored, yes. But not settled. It is silly to imply that 400 years ago, with a much smaller population, more area was settled than is now.
- Unexplored? See above.
Were the Europeans nice people one and all? No. Were the indians? No. Yes, an indian scalp was worth money eventually. But where did the settlers get the idea of scalping from?
Westerners were just better armed, more cohesive, and used their brains. They deserved to win, being clearly more fit.
