Hardgainer, how much would you pay to be shot into space on the same spacecraft as Vince Goodrum, CSN, MFT, HPP, CEO, Wiggs, and Tbombz, to all live on Saturns Rings together?

Musk has been running a house of cards for awhile.

He has suckered a lot of people.

He's a smart guy but has over-promised and under-delivered.

Operationally they are hurting. Would benefit from a former GE VP hire. Someone that’s executed well on huge operations projects there. The GE management style would add some more accountability as well.

Tesla Model S, Model 3, Model X, and the upcoming roadster, and truck all did their purpose. To shake the game up, and get the other automakers to produce competitors.

So Musk did all this just to encourage major automakers to produce competitive models of their own and most likely put Tesla out of business?

Makes perfect sense.

Very altruistic for Musk to sacrifice his company on the altar of Capitalism.

Elon Musk Reveals 'Painful' and 'Excruciating' Year in Tear-Filled Interview

Elon Musk is admitting that the stress of his multibillion-dollar companies is taking a toll on his well-being.

“This past year has been the most difficult and painful year of my career,” Musk — the co-founder and CEO of SpaceX, Tesla and Neuralink — told the New York Times on Thursday. “It was excruciating.”
Musk — who reportedly alternated between laughing and crying during his interview — detailed a life filled with 120-hour work weeks, which has often prevented him from seeing family and almost kept him from making it to his brother’s wedding in Catalonia.

This intense schedule has been the case for the better part of the last two decades, which has spanned Musk’s three marriages, the births of his twins and triplets and the loss of his infant son in 2002 due to SIDS.

“There were times when I didn’t leave the factory for three or four days — days when I didn’t go outside,” he said. “This has really come at the expense of seeing my kids. And seeing friends.

When Musk turned 47 in June, there wasn’t much of a celebration, he “struggled” to tell the newspaper. He spent the entire 24 hours of the day at work.

All night — no friends, nothing,” Musk said.
Because he has trouble resting, the Tesla CEO — who dated actress Amber Heard on and off for years — also admitted he sometimes uses Ambien, a powerful sleep medication.

“It is often a choice of no sleep or Ambien,” he said. The Times reported that members of Tesla’s board have expressed concern about his use of the medication, which can sometimes prove addictive.

If they can mass produce the X they will be fine.

He looks like a lunatic because he is a fanatic about his company, many people work their 40-50 and are done. He's an extremist with work, but it's that vision and passion that allowed him to succeed when he was told he couldnt.

He's a spoiled brat who runs his company like a dictator, shuts down dissent, and was caught off guard by lawsuits from women against his company as well as a former employee who stole a bunch of programming code and exposed part of why the new cars are in production bottlenecks preventing them from being produced in the numbers equal to preorders, let all the mass market. All he's done for the last 3-4 years is bullshit investors and burn through cash. Yes, the valuation of Tesla is more than GM (slightly), but their business model clearly isn't working if he feels the need to take it private with SAUDI money.

Instead of micromanaging his company and working 16 hour days, maybe he could start listening to his advisers or better yet seek the counsel of former automaker CEOs like Carl Icahn or Sergio Marchionne on how they turned their failing companies around. But that's not Elon's style. He thinks he knows everything.

I agree with this. I read they are almost there with the production. Guessing it will sell like butter. But who knows... Recession may be coming soon.

Really?  A recession?  I suppose one could happen at any time but the only reason I can think of is that the Dems fund it via one of their "GoFuck'Em campaigns.

No, of course he didn’t do this all to encourage automakers. But that his main thrust. And look at the name “Tesla”, and what they produce. And now look at how the Model S has changed the landscape for luxury cars and EVs. As well as the Model X. Now BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes are coming out with Model S competitors, and almost every Chinese EV start up has a “Tesla Killer” Model X competitor coming “soon”.
And then there are the orders for their EV semi truck, which optimistically should start production in 2019. Due to their history of missing timelines, this remains to be seen.
With the Model 3 aimed at the BMW 3 series, it’s out BMW on notice, but nobody has really been able to take down the BMW 3 series, as it’s a moving target.
Bad press with the Autonomous Mode in fatal crashes, and issues with the Model 3 not meeting deadlines, bumpers falling off the Model 3 after it rains,  as well as Elon’s tweeting habits have not helped the company
