Mike had the longest torso ever in pro bodybuilding.

Did a lot to ruin his chances.

And as another says, the guy was a prick.

Sure. I had interactions with the man when I worked in the industry. Mike was a rude and prickish guy.

Please tell us a story, when you find the time, kind sir.
1-- It is predominantly about genes and probably secondarily the effects of PEDs on causing dyslipidemia in those genetically predisposed.
2-- MM could of had a message: the importance of following blood work when on PEDs; the effects of PEDs on HDL-LDL bias.
3-- If his EF is 20%, he has a defibrillator and is on schedule for heart transplant.
4-- If he has no insurance, then he has the real possibility of being seen by some really shit, dangerous
physicians.
5-- As I recall he is s/p CABG x6 and has an ischemic cardiomyopathy. Interesting masteron has a positive
inotrophic effect on cardiac muscle. Maybe he should go back on some "select" juice.
6-- Met him once at the height of his career in bodybuilding-- pretty arrogant, and blew you off.

I have often found that when you meet someone who is truly full of themselves, they are in fact, full of shit.   Sounds like he was all that, sir.

A lot of jealousy here. Matarazzo was a man'a man and some guys just can't stand it when an alpha male raises rhe bar.

No, he was no such thing. He sold his soul for a sport that he couldn't crack the top ten with at the Olympia (except once, in 1993, shortly after his 1 and only win at the 1991 USAs) and destroyed his health in the process. Collapsing in an elevator from diuretics dehydration in 1996 and being put on Lipitor wasn't enough of a warning sign for Mike. He had to wake up coughing blood and choking on his own vomit in the middle of the night in 2004 and get rushed off to the hospital and put on the operating table. Let's not get into the time he got arrested at the airport for trying to assault two airport patrolmen when they told him to stop arguing with the ticket clerk at the departure gate for his Bahamian guestposing flight where he'd forgotten to bring his passport and went into a total roid rage about it. Never mind he blew off his fans while pretending to be a peoples' champ (who never won anything). Or that he talked shit about a lot of bodybuilders behind their backs then smiled to their faces at the Venice Gold's or the Firehouse.

You see, some of us knew Mike, and while he wasn't the worst guy by a long shot, he was a fucking dolt, and a moron, and a meathead who himself admitted if he had another chance at life, he'd go back to driving a truck in Boston and never come close to a needle or a contest stage because life is a lot more than just shooting yourself full of synthetic tissue-building agents until you have the hormonal profile of an African water buffalo. In dying early, he left behind a wife and a kid that never even got a chance to know him that well. The dufus even asked his doctor, shortly after his first surgery (and before his heart attack in 2007 for overdoing it at the gym again) whether he could just take his chances and get back on stage one more time, since he missed bodybuilding so much. His doctor told him he may as well go outside and just dive in front of a moving 18 wheeler.

He had good calves and made nice crab shots. Other than that, he was nothing special, and now he's not even a memory in a sport that knew him for 20 years. Move on. Find someone else to worship because this keg is tapped.

Meltdown

KWON3 pretty well summed it up- hardly a meltdown. The connection between atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in the arteries) and steroid use is pretty much agreed on by now.

Mike Matarazzo killed himself with his lifestyle. And honestly - he didn't accomplish much in the "sport"

Boyer Coe said in effect that bodybuilding contests wouldn't exist without drugs. He's right. In the 70's bodybuilders would go on for 3 months for a contest then go off the drugs. Everyone felt they were taking a risk. Arnold, Zane, Coe and the rest a few months after a contest would drastically lose muscle. They would be a shadow of them self on stage. Now guys are juicing the majority of the year. Just sad that this sport is based on drug use. No drugs would equal no sport.

The bodybuilders of the 1970s (not the 1980s, or later) looked human even when they were on. They looks unusually fit, lean, and had big arms but they could plausibly claim to simply be that size due to their diets and training regimens. It was attainable.

What we have today is a freak show, plain and simple. And they can't afford to get off the drugs to let their organs rest because unlike in the 70s, there's shows year-round (so they need to keep their mass) and if they DID get off for a while, they're shrink too much to get it back. Exceptions do exist like Kevin Levrone, but even he wasn't 'natural' when he was off. He just cruised. The 1970s guys just got off altogether...there's photos of Arnold where he looked skinny and small then 3 months later he'd be 3x bigger.

Nope. He told the truth tale.

Mike deeply regretted his decisions when his final days were upon him.

Brian Poulos is a chronic ćock smoker who doesn't like his fantasy men criticized in any way. HTH.

Time to drop the charade, you all know I'm all about the dick. Even moreso when is surrounded by so monster trunks.  I would mortgage my house to have a night with this guy.  Top of the top (but I'd take the bottom).

I hope it didn't come off as me throwing Mazz under a truck. He wasn't a bad guy at all, but if he didn't know you, he wouldn't give you 5 minutes unless he was behind the Weider booth at an expo. To his credit, he never scumbagged people like Lou by asking for money for a photo.

We had a protein shake once at the mecca and he asked me where I was from, if I was serious about competing, etc. This was before he moved up state. But then some guy he knew came up behind him and he got distracted and pretty much just patted me on the shoulder and wished me luck. So he was that kind of guy, but not nearly as stupid or annoying as say Jay or Heath. And def. an old-school type of lifter, no machines or any of that crap.
