I have heard that there are still a large number of deceased climbers up there who are never coming back.

Is it possible that there are still 200+ bodies up there or is that merely the number of people who died making the summit attempt.

A Sherpa can't come down and leave a live climber. Many Sherpas die too. The Sherpas set up the routes, ropes, camps, ladders, everything, and get paid f*** all.

He was on the TV (ITV UK) with Victora Pendleton (olympic athlete) not so long back during the climb.

Apparently after a certain point you are told; no one is coming for you if you get hurt, you're on your own from here on....as they walked passed the odd frozen corpse.

Sadly know.. Air is so thin the helicopter blades can get enough lift. Maybe you could skydive and parachute to the top. .  Then ski down. Getbigger style!

TWADDLE, Those final couple of hundred feet before you reach the top of EVEREST contains HILLERY's STEP (a narrow climb to the top in which only one climber can climb at a time) and is now more difficult since it was destroyed by that big earthquake a couple of years ago.

I suggest you have your Sherpa take you all the way to the top.

And if I recall correctly ... a few years ago there were a number of climbers at the top which caused a delay while descending the STEPS.

And that delay was the initial cause of a number of those descending climbers to get lost in a white-out that prevented them from reaching the safety of their base camp.

One climber fell off a cliff on his/her way down and another (BECK WEATHERS) passed out somewhat close to base camp and was later found by a base camp search party only to be thought to be dead and left in place.

The interesting thing is that he did manage to survive and somehow managed to get to the base camp alive ... but definitely not well.

I think that book was "INTO THIN AIR!" but I could be wrong as I have read more than a couple of Mt Everest books.
