and he didn't have a six pack still when down to 180...? not having a bit of a six pack and some decent definition and vascularity "pre-diet..or pre-competition" or whatever you wanna call it... well... don't expect great results..... that's the truth about natural bodybuilding..... you gotta stay looking pretty good all the time..... just the way it is ...

Nick is Wiggs Approved. I've been with Nick since the beginning, it's been great seeing his channel grow. I'm happy for all his success. He's doing bodybuilding right.

Interestng video and well presented, but I'm not entirely convinced that roids are required to look good enough to win a natural contest and look decent enough to do so.

In NICK's case ... it could possibly be a 'heredity problem/situation" as we hve all seen 143 pound kids in a ripped up condition without prepping for a contest..

I'm hopeing that Tres Taco will be seeing this and offer some comment.

He seems to admit that he made some mistakes in his prep. He also seems like a regular Joe and not a veteran competitor. Plus, he's only 5'9.

It depends on what level of natty contest you're entering obviously. A few years ago there was a dude who used to train at my gym who was in his early 40's. Dude was jacked as fuck, and was a VERY obvious juicer to anyone. He actually bought most of his gear from a buddy of mine, and all of us knew it!
The funny thing is that the fucker had a group of people (around 10, mostly men, a few women) who he trained, and who literally worshiped him!!!! They thought he was the second coming of Arnold and would constantly talk about all he does is eat clean and train hard. LOL!
Well, fast forward a few months and he enters a natural bodybuilding contest. All the guys at the gym who knew him were like "WTF! how would the promoter even allow him to enter"

? Well, shockingly, he ends up winning the overall, as he dwarfed the majority of the competitors! He passed the piss test and supposedly they even had a lie detector test which he also passed (dudes a good liar I guess).

And the individual in question could have been 100% roid free and simply buying those 'supps' for his clients' use ... although it seems to be highly doubtful.

But if a drug test was administered and if a lie detector test was given by reliable agencies ... and if the subject passed .... it would be difficult to convince me otherwise.

Especially in a court of law!

But .... Years ago you could buy chemical blockers which most likely are still available today, but it is my unprofessional understanding that those 'blockers' don't apply when hair folical testing is administered.

Based on your input, I'd offer an unprofessional guess that there is only a 10% chance that he used 'supps' to win that contest.

What he says is absolutely true with respect to many bodybuilders. Guys walk around bloated with vascular arms, a defined chest and wide back and think they're a few weeks to months away from contest. Then, when they try to attain those lean levels, they find themselves in pure hell when coming to the realization that your real, lean muscle mass lies way deeper than you can imagine.

Granted, all of this changes if you use steroids and are enhanced, but if trying to do this natural, shit will suck.

I Think some are better at retaining muscle being natural at low bodyfat. Has to do with natural hormone levels, some don't drop test levels being lower bodyfat while others do.

there is some 200+ Contest conditioning naturals

Dude, there is no chance in HELL he was even close to natty, or had been in the majority of his adult life. Also, his clients were pretty much all either beginners, or the people who lift for years and still look like beginners. If any of them were on gear, they should get their money back lol!

I don't know if you are new to working out, or just a younger dude, but passing a piss test means nothing! This guy most likely just knew how long before the contest he would have to stop taking gear, to pass the test. And this isn't rule out the possibility that he had a container of someone elses piss and he just dumped that into the jar they gave him.

I'm telling you, I don't care if he passed 100 drug tests a year, this guy was as geared as anyone I've ever seen in person, and STILL competed in a natty contest, and obviously destroyed everyone.
You do realize that the natural legend Simeon Panda has competed in many natural tested competition, and NEVER failed a test. Please god don't tell me you think he's natty. lol

Training natural is a completely different ball game. Only with steroids can you get ripped while maintaining muscle or increasing muscle. Trying to get ripped naturally you will lose muscle. The only proof positive way to know your fat level and lean mass is to be weighed under water. Fat calipers are not accurate. Those electronic scales can give you a different fat percentage every day you step on it and are notorious for being off for a muscular guy.

Take a 5'9" guy that weighs a muscular 185lbs. His true fat percentage might be 15%. That's almost 28 pounds of fat. Both visceral and subcutaneous. If he gets down to 7% body fat for a show. He has to lose 14.8 pounds of fat. That would bring him down to 170lbs and that's not taking into account the muscle loss. He might also lose 7 pounds of muscle. Now he weighs 163lbs.

Now that same guy starts his contest prep at a muscular 185lbs. He takes steroids, GH, anti estrogens, LH hormone and maybe a little insulin. He goes up to 205lbs and cuts to 4% body fat.

If my math is off I'm three sheets to the wind drunk typing this. I will use a calculator next time.

Anything's possible ... so it's possible that you may be correct about that un-natural "NATURAL CONTEST' winner, but it would be interesting to hear TACO's opinion of this discussion ... Mainly because he's totally involved and 'done it' ... so his experience and knowledge would be valid.

Steroids allow men who are not genetic freaks to compete. Normal folk can't retain the mass like a Reeves who was one in a million.

The expectations for bodyfat levels for natties are unrealistic. Natties are expected to reach the same super-low bodyfat levels as drug users.

off the roids you have to find your personal cut-off point between looking like you lift and low bodyfat

some people have better muscle retention genetics so they can maintain mass and be ripped. whereas others might have to stick to 15%+ bf to look like they lift.

Look at pictures when Reeves was 15. He was built. During World War II they nicked named him the Shape. He was at a jungle base with a 110 pound barbell set he bought doing high reps. He was built most of his life until his health started to fail him. Just because testosterone was made for use in the 40's doesn't mean he used it. He wrote and said how much he was against steroid use. Grimek is another natural. In the 1936 he was built and competing in the Olympics as a heavy weight when he was true light heavy.
