Most people pay over 10K in property tax in the NJ and NY area. Everyone is amazed at the salaries many make in the area from the south but they don't realize the mansion in North Caroline that costs 400K would cost 1.5 million in NJ. The cost of living is insane here. Don't get me going on the price of car insurance compared to the south.

Tax increases are inevitable for every city/state across the country.  The majority of state/government pension funds are very underfunded.

I read California Governor Fairy Newsom is planning to repeal Prop 13 and wants to raise RE taxes statewide.  That will push even more businesses/jobs out of the state.  Libtard asswipes are intent on destroying everything.

New Jersey governor Phil Murphy is planning to implement a "rain tax"... no joke.  Guess what party he belongs to?

Doesn't matter what the property rents for.  It's based on the assessed value of the property, so apparently that went up.  Good luck with an appeal.  Looks like a a lot of hoops to jump through.

"Property taxes in North Carolina are assessed by each county. Property is assessed at 100% of appraised value, which is determined every four years in Forsyth County. The 2017-2018 property tax rate for Forsyth County is $0.7235 per $100 of valuation."

Lots of people are moving into NC so the taxes are going up to provide all the services.

Doubling the tax sucks but at least you get to feel twice as represented.

Taxes are per capita or per home so no need to double them. Just an excuse by government to grab more.

:o Break that down monthly, and people here who bought a $150-200K home here 5+ years ago (a nice new home here, 3 beds and 2+baths w/finished basement) are paying that amount or less for their mortgage payment depending on down payment made.

Actually, I wanted to make sure I was right about this so I went to bankrate's mortgage calculator.  $0 down on a 30yr mortgage for a $200K home is only $1420 monthly.  Property taxes would add about another $200-300 per month, so still less with nothing down.

That's a heck of an increase. Oregon property taxes are limited to no more than a 6% annual increase. However, property tax levies vary depending on what gets voted in. Pass a levy requires a greater than 50% vote, based on the number of registered voters, to pass. My home is appraised at $525,000 in 2016. The property tax is currently right around $6,000 a year.

What? :o  Did you mean to type $.07235?  $.7235 per $100 would = $72,350 in taxes on a $100,000 home....which I'm assuming would be a pile of shit.

Yes, my point was if you divided his $24K in taxes (for his sake I hope that's yearly) by 12 months it is $2,000 per month.  People here have nice homes like I described, and their mortgage payment is less than that....even if they did no money down.  *the time of purchase prices I mentioned would be worth about $50k more now, but their loan is locked in.

Let's be honest - if you still live in NY/NJ it's your own fault. They've been telegraphing this insanity for a long, long time.
