Nobody cares about pound for pound, only total number lifted.

tbf nobody cares about any lift that isn't either videod or recorded in competition.

i deadlifted 750 x 5 yesterday at 260lb 5% BF....see how it works

x2 "pound for pound" is something only the smaller guys care about.

can any getbiggers do a muscle up?

Never understood the point of these.  They look like they torque the shoulders pretty bad.

I guess there's no point to any of it really, but i've taken an interest in calisthenics recently. Probably stupidly, considering my age and build.

But I see so many guys who have better physiques than most self-proclaimed 'bodybuilders' and (allegedly) do almost pure calisthenics. So I decided, why not give up some weightlifting and try to master a few of these moves? Haven't got much to lose...

I saw the deads....very good!  What about bench and squat?

I've seen your posts for years, and enjoy them but don't know much about ya.   Without being too specific what's age and height range, bodyweight?

Btw, thanks for the props for this little fella. lol  As stated though, those days are long gone :'(
Bench is absolutely horrible, never been good at it, haven't done it in 3 weeks. I've squatted 535, pulled 620. At 45 I'm looking to ramp up and set some new PRs this year.

About a year ago I started practicing one arm pushups. (elbows flared)

Could barely hold the position, now I do sets of 30. 15 reps per arm, alternating. Absolutely destroys abs, shoulders.

At 240 to 250 pounds in my mid to late 20s I was capable of the following.

Squat - 535 for multiple 20 rep sets.
Inverted leg press - 500 for 50 reps (personal best)
Leg extension - 225 for 100 reps (personal best)
Squat 300 - 50 reps (personal best)
Squat 225 - 100 reps (personal best)
Leg extension with 750+ pounds for reps until the machine actually broke. (personal best)

Squats were to parallel or just slightly below. No ass to grass and I wore 1 ace bandage knee wrap on each leg and used a 4 inch belt.  I never attempted a single in the squat but I have asked a couple of people I trust and they said at least 700.

I could not bench press and my best was 350 at 240 to 250 pounds bodyweight.  I could not bench press.  One time I deadlifted 505 and took it for a short walk to the squat rack once because my powerlifting friends teased me and said if I wanted to squat I needed to take their loaded bar and put it in the rack.  The rack was one of those staggered ones so I placed it in the bottom tier.  Maybe 10 or 12 feet.  I would regularly walk around the gym with several hundred pounds on my back after squatting was done. But I rested before doing that because I was usually beat.

Paul Anderson and JC Hise were my inspirations for leg work.  It took me years to reach these poundages.  Some here might not believe me and that's okay.  I can't do that stuff anymore.  About 15 or so years ago I was still able to do up to 400 for 20 reps.  Not now, LOL!  My body fat was doubtless high.  25% or more I would say.

Well, technically I'm not "retarded".  Just slooooow...My mom had me tested.  ;D

Everyone in the general public always asks "how much ya bench?".  No one ever asked me about the squat, LOL!

I was in what I considered to be good shape for what I posted.   Now, not so much!   I've never competed, so I never got shredded to do a show. (diuretics scare me)  Was always around 9-10%...12% at most when trying to add some size over the winters back then.  I learned earlier today that this is called "safety-fat".  My term for getting chubby over the cold months while putting on size was "winterization"

I don't see why people would make shit up on here, but I also don't understand why adults posting anonymously have gimmicks that have gimmicks?  So, there's that. :-\

Great work!  You're doing stuff better at 45 than I did at 30, and under it seems......  And you're natty too, IIRC?  I was gassed for my lifts, but oddly none of them happened on the heaviest cycle I ever did.  All were done with 600-950 total combined AAS.

Like I mentioned, flat bench is my nemesis as well.   >:(  I hate it, but I grow from it.

I've done incline dbell benches with 125's for sets of 10-12, but would only get 8-10 on flat with 120's??? ???  That's not normal!  Actually, I've even done dbell shoulder presses with the 120's for 10.  Makes no sense compared to doing flat bench.  I must be really effective at keeping my shoulder involvement during flats to a minimum or sumthin?

Good luck with hitting the new PRs!  I'm just gettin into it again, but heavy stuff under 6-8 reps will no longer be a thing for me going forward.

My uncle is a shorty like me, but he's a bit of a chubby toad.  However, he was in the military when he was younger, and did them all the time.  About 8 years ago he was in town, and we were at my place bullshitting.  He was talking about working out in his hotel room while on the road for his job, and I started making fun of his 5 and 10 lb dbells and his little mini foot-peddle bike (little contraption you can use sitting on a chair).  He said "alright mr. muscles, I bet I can do at least 5 more one arm push ups than you"  I couldn't even do one.  I can't figure out the positioning and how to balance to even do it!  LOL!

He proceeded to do 10 each side.  I proceeded to feel like a pussy ;D

Lesson of that day:  Respect your elders! :'(

Thank you sir.

I'm 57 years old and have been competing in the sport of powerlifting since 1980. That's 38 years. And...

From the bottom up...

-Knees... feel great
-hips... total replacement on one (left). They both feel great now
-low back... always sore but Strong and no structural problems
-elbows... no issues
-shoulders... bad, very bad. Total rotator cuff reconstruction 3x. Very fragile.
-neck... pain free but issues, anterior disc excession and fusion c4/c5/c6
-head... a total train wreck.

nice! sadly they blow out my elbow tendon. i till want to get a handstand pushup though. for some reason its easier on the elbows for me and i can already do the negative (against the wall).

That’s great shape, I wasn’t strictly saying to be shredded by any means

8 percent to 15 percent range

My training partner at one time was one of the strongest guys I’ve ever trained with, he never competed in power lifting or bbing, was just a very strong individual that was in shape and lean

188-190 in weight, 10 percent bf, not natural but not heavily juiced, his lifts were

Bench - 455
Squat- 585
Deadlift - 635

All raw lifts with just a belt and chalk

;D ;D ;D

For the 175-lb class, I am a legit contender.  Dain Wallis is going to beat me basically no matter what I do...but it wouldn't shock me if I placed #2 in Canada for the 175-lb class this year.  If Ronnie Coleman saw me, he would say "What's with that bitty guy lifting that much?" "I wish I could still walk unassisted like that guy  :'("

Fixed

(And even though I'm 6' 1" I have to say I love the idea of going into a gym with a more compact guy who then proceeds to out-lift some of the bigger guys in the place - it would be like having a street sleeper auto or something.  ;D)

If Thor joins GetBig, then everyone else are reverted to Twink status:

(1042 Strongman Deadlift for Arnold Prep). Larry out there in Iceland w/ him, another strong guy. (Looks tiny next to Thor though). (FWD to 11:30)

[ Invalid YouTube link ]

Very good stuff - Thanks for posting.  I didn't actually jump forward, as what both guys were doing was cool:  Thor's incremental warm up to the big lift was interesting to me as I've never tried any 1RM stuff.  And observing Larry Wheels' technique with the log bar was cool too - surprisingly tight form...

Thanks again  8)
