« on: April 15, 2006, 07:09:18 PM »
damn!!! just switched up the 'ol triceps routine after doing overhead db extensions for awhile and did EZ bar extensions overhead, what an awesome exercise, do any of you guys do this one? i had been using a 125 lb. dumbell and used a 45 and a 25 per side on the bar, arms were pumped beyond belief, i think i'm gonna stick with this one awhile.

Any form of overhead extensions are great, especially leaning back with the back braced. Oliva & Coleman's favorite size builder.

You cant use as much weight as when you do them lying, but I have found personally they dont hurt my elbows as much as the lying ones do.  ;)

Plus, when you do them in front of a mirror, it is great to see your triceps pump up-----where as when you are lying down, you see nothing !!! ;)

I prefer an Ez bar but some guy's like to use a tricep bar. Can also do these on a high angle incline bench. These, lying kick-backs and tricep push-off's seem to give a extra boost for triceps mass from time to time. Those kick-backs and push off's don't seem to be used to much of late. Too bad, great movements. Good Luck.

Side Bar: overhead extensions (standing) were originally called French Presses.

Any real difference or advantage to doing overhead extensions on an incline benched vs. upright?
