Seattle

I started a thread about San Francisco becoming a shithole awhile back. Apparently, Seattle has suffered the same fate. Any Getbiggers from the area want to speak on this?

Over the past five years, Seattle has seen an explosion of homelessness, crime, and addiction. | Christopher F. Rufo, City Journal

https://www.city-journal.org/seattle-homelessness

Seattle is under siege. Over the past five years, the Emerald City has seen an explosion of homelessness, crime, and addiction. In its 2017 point-in-time count of the homeless, King County social-services agency All Home found 11,643 people sleeping in tents, cars, and emergency shelters. Property crime has risen to a rate two and a half times higher than Los Angeles’s and four times higher than New York City’s. Cleanup crews pick up tens of thousands of dirty needles from city streets and parks every year.
At the same time, according to the Puget Sound Business Journal, the Seattle metro area spends more than $1 billion fighting homelessness every year. That’s nearly $100,000 for every homeless man, woman, and child in King County, yet the crisis seems only to have deepened, with more addiction, more crime, and more tent encampments in residential neighborhoods. By any measure, the city’s efforts are not working.

The grunge Seattle scene in the 90s was a lot like that, full of junkies and homeless...

At least that scene produced some good bands. Apparently, all the freebies that Seattle offers is attracting scum from everywhere.

I heard Eddie only gets drunk nowadays. He quit the hard drugs. Good for him, will enjoy his 100 million bucks net worth, surfing and drinking wine

Not shocked at this link -

the whole Northwest has a similar vibe. i do not live there (AZ is my home) but for years id go to Seattle, San Fran and and Portland often - they are basically the same lifestyle/scene/political feel/economic feel.  not much difference honestly.

Seattle is def worth a 3/4 day trip
Boeing factory
space needle
lake washington
downtown/the fish market
nice grub/bars
tour the area

my best friend relocated there - he is ready to come back to AZ (he is super liberal too) the cost of living is brutal similar to SF

It’d be best for the US to write off California and these sanctuary-type cities. The left/Dems are hellbent to destroy society in the pursuit of a fantasyland delusion.

Only when it’s right outside their front doors and directly affecting their quality of life will they be forced to ...

Oh, who am I kidding.

Libtards will never escape their mental illness.

“If a little libbing creates societal degradation, a lot of libbing ought to fix that. Getting worse? Let’s lib it up even more!”

Pure bonkers.

I grew up in Seattle and went to college in the City.  Seattle has always been a haven for runaways because of it's low crime and tolerance.  I lived in Portland and it's the same way.  I know the homeless problem in Seattle has gotten worse over the years.  Most of the people who are homeless drug addicts are from elsewhere in the country.

I visited San Francisco once and was amazed by how aggressive the pan handling was.  I was asked for money about eight times on my way from my hotel to a restaurant.

The movie Streetwise from 1984 documents the lives of teenage runaways in Seattle.

Didn't Seattle decriminalize shop lifting for anything under $900. Steal away people. Anywhere liberals are in control for any length of time turns into a hell hole. The biggest problem is soon they can't afford to live in the area and they flee to other states. Think they would be happy living in a place with low taxes, low crime and no homeless situation? No, they vote liberal hoping to turn their new state into the shit hole they fled.

NYC was like that before Rudy Giuliani got elected and cleaned up the city. It’s reverting back under Mayor “Comrade” Bill DiBlasio.

I used to listen to Michael Savage’s radio show based out of SF. When he would describe conditions there my thought was always that the city needs a Rudy.

Most of the Seattle libtard millionaires live in the expensive suburbs and barely interact with downtown Seattle other than getting off their express bus and walking one block to their high rise.

The cities also have large Asian populations. I’m surprise that demographic doesn’t speak out. I guess it’s because they come from countries with oppressive governments where speaking out can get you disappeared.

That's actually wrong.  The city of Seattle is very expensive and there are plenty of nice places to live.  Even if you live on the east side, there are two huge highways with tons of traffic taking people in and out of the city.  People don't avoid the city and there are plenty of liberal millionaires that live in the city.

Probably a lot of cognitive dissonance going on there. People pretending not to see what’s in front of their eyes.

Funny how liberals constantly go on about inequality yet the most glaring examples of it can be found in the most liberal cities.

I think that's where the $15 minimum wage in the city of Seattle comes in.

The Seattle area used to be much more affordable when I was growing up.  California has had a huge impact on Seattle and Portland.  Seattle's real problem is too many people want to live there.  The nine months of rain used to be enough to keep the Californian's away.

Portland is more liberal than Seattle and Eugene is just one big Greatful Dead hippie festival.

This begs the question of why people would leave California to go to Seattle. One store owner cited all the Bennys. She called it Freeatle.

Guiliani immediately cleaned up NYC. The mess that Mayor Dinkins created. The first thing Giuliani did was to tell the cops enforce all laws. It meant minor arrests that turned up people wanted on warrants. The homeless were soon gone for the most part. Every Democrat ruins a city. They just need time for the city crash. San Francisco is such an affluent town but now it's happening there. The first thing they should do is bull doze the tent cities. They are illegal.
